Four Wolverhampton Wanderers fans have designed a commemorative shirt to mark the club's 150th anniversary in 2027. Kieran Newey, Alex Moore, Nathan Crawford and Ryan Leister said they spent months bringing their concept to life and would reveal it at a launch event in the city on 23 May. The friends, part of fan group Old Gold Pack, said they hoped to sell them for £50, with the majority of profits donated to Wolverhampton charity Compton Care and the rest funding future fan displays and flags. The shirt features a crest synonymous with Wolverhampton, the group said, and they "reworked it into something that reflects the city, as supporters would like to see it". #wolves #wolverhampton

A major police operation involving 80 officers has taken place to launch an initiative to target crime and anti-social behaviour in Handsworth, Birmingham. West Midlands Police (WMP) has brought Operation Fearless to the area, following similar crackdowns in Erdington and the city centre. Following its high-profile launch, a dedicated team of 20 officers will be focusing on crimes affecting residents, businesses and visitors, including drug dealing, shop theft, knife crime and anti social behaviour, WMP said. The team is set to also work alongside the likes of trading standards, West Midlands Fire Service, immigration enforcement, HMRC and the Soho Road Business Improvement District.

Firefighters have been dealing with a large blaze at a factory in Wolverhampton. West Midlands Fire Service said eight crews were in attendance at the incident on Walsall Street, Horsley Fields. People were asked to avoid the area, while those living or working nearby were also advised to keep windows and doors shut as a precaution. Local resident Rachel Hamblett said she heard "popping sounds" at about 05:00 BST, adding: "Those popping sounds became louder, I was wondering what was going on, then loud bangs."
