One actor, four audience members and five seats in a small red car. Something, or someone, is definitely breaking down.
The driver-played with raw immediacy by Yael Haskal-speaks, sometimes gently, sometimes with manic urgency, about heartbreak, the algorithm, ketamine, billionaires, vacuums, and cowardice. She waits for someone who might never come, and in the meantime, shares everything and nothing.
Part auto-theatre, part confessional, Carpark is a darkly funny and emotionally unfiltered ride through identity, disconnection, and longing in the age of the endless stream. What begins as a car viewing turns into an emotional test drive through grief, absurdity, and brutal honesty.
Created by writer/director Timothy George Kelly and performed by Yael Haskal, this site-specific work invites you to take a seat, close the door, and buckle up. This is theatre at its very closest.
