Stewart’s story started with a lot of questions 💔
A few weeks ago, this terrier mix was spotted circling the same area throughout the day in Hopkinton—just down the street from Baypath. It was hot, and it was clear he didn’t know where to go. No one recognized him, and he didn’t seem familiar with his surroundings.
He was fearful, dehydrated, underweight, and kept his distance from anyone who tried to approach.
Our team slowly gained his trust. With patience and plenty of tasty treats, we were able to bring him to safety in a low-stress, fear-free way. And once he was on leash, it became clear—he was a very loving boy who was simply afraid and confused.
We named him Stewart—and from that moment on, he was safe.
Despite efforts to find a previous owner, no one came forward. He had no microchip, no collar, wasn’t neutered, and was in rough condition.
While we may never know exactly how he ended up there, it’s clear Stewart was left to figure things out on his own—and that’s something no dog should ever have to face. While we can’t say for certain, it’s suspected he may have been left in an unoccupied area away from homes. And the hardest part? Help was just down the road.
Now safe at Baypath, Stewart is starting fresh 💜
He’s opened up so much—zooming around with toys, using his nose to explore (and tracking every bit of wildlife on the trails), and now that he’s neutered, making friends with other dogs.
He’s smart, eager to learn, and already knows cues like sit, down, stay, and come. He’s very food motivated and keeps his kennel clean, which makes us think he may have been house trained at one point.
Stewart can be a little nervous when meeting new people, but with patience and positive reinforcement, he builds trust and truly shines. Once he knows you, he’s affectionate, loves pets, belly rubs, brushing, and playtime.
He’s getting the care, comfort, and support he deserves—and now he’s just waiting for a home where he’ll never be left behind again.

Calling all shepherd lovers… meet FlapJack!! 🥞
At just 4 months old, FlapJack is already showing what an amazing companion he’ll be. This sweet shepherd mix is the perfect mix of playful and snuggly—he loves walks, puzzle toys, making new friends, and is happiest when he’s with people.
He’s done well with dogs and kids, is making great progress with house training, is fully crate trained (he’ll even go into his crate on his own!), and is already learning commands like a pro!
By day, he’s ready for adventures. By night, he’s happiest curled up for couch snuggles. Gentle, social, and full of love, FlapJack is ready to find his forever family
