We are saddened to share news of the passing of Marten De Vlieger, the brilliant mind behind the MONARCH Airway Clearance System. Marten and his sister were born with cystic fibrosis (CF), and as children, their mother had to manually administer chest physiotherapy to help clear their airways. But Marten envisioned a more independent life.
So, at just 16 years old, he began creating a mobile therapeutic device that would eventually allow him to travel, enjoy kite-surfing and other adventures, and raise a family. We were thrilled to partner with him to develop the MONARCH Airway Clearance System and help him realize his vision: that others living with CF could experience the freedom and flexibility he’d claimed for himself.
Our thoughts are with his family and everyone he touched through his thought leadership, many talents, and indomitable spirit.

Celebrating my superhero of a first born a little extra today. Did you know only 30,000 people in the US are living with cystic fibrosis? CF can be an invisible illness, where those affected show no symptoms even though their bodies are constantly fighting against them.
To most people, Tripp is a happy, goofy, active toddler. What they don't know is that he spends hours every week hooked up to a machine doing breathing treatments and takes up to 20 pills per day.
