✨️ Makani x Zainab Sadia Saeed: Secret Supper for Palestine ✨️ MENU DESIGN • CUSTOM TYPE • CUSTOM ILLUSTRATIONS • CUSTOM PRINTING + CUTTING + ASSEMBLY Designing this menu for Zainab’s Secret Supper, honoring both Palestine and Pakistan, was a deeply meaningful experience. The request—a postcard-style menu for guests to keep as a memento—was more than a design project. It became a tribute to two rich cultures: celebrating the vibrant heritage of Pakistan and standing in solidarity with Palestine, a nation fighting against genocide and the erasure of its identity. This project celebrated the beauty of both cultures, highlighting the importance of preserving and honoring heritage. Through art, we support the fight for cultural survival and identity. It was a privilege to contribute to a cause that uplifts legacy and strength. Looking back, I now realize that by not sharing my photos and videos in real time or riding the wave of instant social media gratification, I gave myself the space to sit with my memories, let them settle, and truly reflect on what the journey meant to me. Starting with Thailand, choosing just 20 photos was a challenge! This is only a small glimpse of the things I ate and explored. Full stories and maps will be shared on Substack—for real this time!

Your stories moved me, and I’m grateful you listened to mine. The overwhelming support for Palestine was a powerful reminder of the importance of real, physical community in a world that often feels disconnected. I’ll admit, sometimes social media makes me question: Are people really listening? Am I doing enough? But this event reminded me that what we create and preserve matters. Art is resistance. In the face of oppressive systems that seek to erase our existence and voices, art stands as a testament to our resilience and truth. I may not be on the frontlines every day, but I’m here documenting and archiving our struggle so future generations will know: there were those who resisted, who fought, who refused to be silenced. Together, we are preserving hope and building a legacy of defiance.
