Notorious live band from Rio 1970s and 1980s in the time of samba rock.

2. Grupo Moxotó: Pau Brasil
Private Label LP
Disco reggae fusion that just grabs hold of you and sparks the desire to dance.
Moxotó was a Bahian band releasing regional music in the 1980s and 1990s.
The band was deeply inspired by ancestral knowledge, nature, water and spirituality.

Strong salsa influence on the brass and piano theme in thid genre-bending Bahian song.
Theres an underlying disco beat and the lyrics are traditional references to Emoriô and axé. Victor only released one other LP of the same style. It was the private label album Do.Re.Mi.Fa.Sol.La.Si

Toninho Baixinho: Terra do Brasil (1986)
also released independently
this 12-inch “EP” is Toninho's solo work.
Tonho released other songs in compilations and even composed a song for
Catia De França. In the lyrics of this song,
Toninho talks about the material and immaterial things of everyday life in Brazil. And with the energy of the music played, it becomes a beautiful work dedicated to Brazilian culture.

Marcos Valle: Proton, Eletron, Neutron(1986)
After releasing LPs on Odeon and Som Livre, Valle released this LP on the ARCA label.
This is a laid back, magical, futuristic album and his 3rd "boogie" LP. Also one of the most unknown Valle albums with Deodato colaborating.
Alakazan: Amor de Painho (1983)
Alakazan is an artist from Brasil, that put out music in Recife in the early 1980s. His principal musical styles are lambada, forró and carimbó, thus uniting Northeast and North in his musical output.
He only released two LPs on the "Memória" - sublabel of Fermata. This is the 2nd album was produced by Recife legend Tovinho. Keyboard player of Alceu Valença.

With the action series "Man on Fire" filmed in Rio now out on Netflix, the song "Sangue Latino" and Ney Matogrossos band Secos e Molhados are set to get a comeback.
This instrumental album was released in 1974 with stunning cover versions versions from Secos two first (and best) albums. Secos e Molhados (Dry and Wet) became a huge latin rock phenomena and went on to sell 100.000s of records.
Brazilian vinyl lore tells the story of how - in the Brazilian oil crises in the early 70s - the "misunderstood by the majority" Arthur Verocai album (1972) was not selling at all and was recollected by Continental from the record stores to re-use the vinyl material to accomodate the growing demand of Secos e Molhados albums that did not stop selling.
