Yesterday we were able to meet with MP @wera_hobhouse for a collaborative roundtable. We discussed her campaign and all the initiatives we do as a student community partnership with UOB, Bath College and Norland to ensure the safety of our students.
Yesterday our VP-Education Evie and Head of student experience and operations Matt attended “don’t take weekend students’ loans” NUS petition hand in, outside Department for Education in Westminster.
“Im proud to support our students and represent Bath spa students union at the petition hand in. We advocate for accessible education.
This is one of the fastest growing petitions NUS has ever had. These students affected are hardworking people who have full-time jobs , caring responsibilities and are parents, which they have to balance alongside weekend studies.
These students cannot afford to loose their loans, they are worried about paying rent and food. These people have had the rug pulled out from them with no notice.
Don’t take their loans away, we want reconsideration of decisions made affecting weekend learners and the repayment of loans and grants. We need to support these students and make sure their voices are heard” - VP Education
