Brian was still growing up, but nobody had shown him how.
When Brian came to us, he was full of energy and far stronger than he realised. His owner loved him dearly, but walks had become too difficult to manage. Like many young dogs, Brian didn’t mean to overwhelm. He just needed help learning how to channel all of his enthusiasm.
At first, Brian was unsure around new people and would back away when worried. But with time, routine, understanding and expert support, his true personality began to shine.
He became known for trying to be a lap dog despite his size, his love of tennis balls, and sniffing absolutely everything.
Today, Brian has a home of his own 🏠 But more teenage cats and dogs are still waiting for their chance.

Right now, we’re caring for a group of animals often misunderstood - not tiny kittens or puppies, and not older pets, but those in their teenage phase.
Up and down the country, rescues are seeing more pets aged six months to three years being handed in or abandoned.
Just like human teens, adolescent cats and dogs are full of energy, curiosity and big emotions as they’re still learning and developing every day.
Without a stable home, this stage of their lives can quickly become overwhelming. Many arrive frightened, confused, or unsure how to behave – not because they are naughty, but because they are still growing up.
With the right support during this stage they can develop into healthy, happy adults who feel confident to enjoy the world around them.
Our Teenage Tails Appeal helps to ensure these young animals are provided the care, training, and stability so they can grow in confidence and find loving homes.

Sebastian is well and truly living his best life and he’s completely stolen the hearts of his new family 😻
They told us he settled in quickly and made himself right at home (including occasionally helping himself to food from the kitchen counter!). But with such a lovely nature, he’s always quickly forgiven.
Seb has become a real cuddle bug, happiest curled up on laps or making himself comfortable right in the middle of the bed as personal space isn’t really his thing, and his family wouldn’t have it any other way 💙 His favourite human is Dad, especially when there’s a beard to rub against and breakfast to request first thing in the morning.
He’s also formed a sweet bond with Molly his new cat sister. It took her a few days to adjust to his playful (and sometimes slightly cheeky!) energy, but now they’re the best of friends.
Sebastian isn’t a fan of visitors or the vacuum cleaner, but he’s found his own cosy hiding spots for when things feel a bit too much. And with his impressive climbing skills, he’s decided indoor life is the safest and most comfortable option.
His family say he’s “an absolute delight… a little character who is so easy to love,” and they feel incredibly lucky to have him 💫

Neptune is still learning what it means to feel at home 💙
At just over three years old, this gentle Lurcher is taking in the world one step at a time. Life hasn’t always been familiar or easy for him, so the little things - new places, new routines - can feel a bit overwhelming. But beneath that uncertainty is a sweet, affectionate boy who wants to connect… he just needs someone patient enough to show him how.
He’ll quietly come over for fuss when he’s ready, enjoys a good sniff on his walks, and has a soft spot for toys (especially the cuddly kind). Neptune is looking for someone special who can be his calm, steady guide, who’ll hold his paw as he builds confidence and discovers all the lovely things a forever home can bring.
