This morning we gathered outside Bath Abbey to celebrate Ascension Day with Morning Prayer. Prayers were led from outside the Abbey walls, while our Chamber Choir lifted their voices from the Bishop’s Balcony above — a beautiful reminder to “lift up your hearts” on this holy day. ✨ Thank you to everyone who joined us in worship this morning.

Join us this Thursday at 8.30am outside the great West Doors of Bath Abbey for a very special Ascension Day service to bless our city of Bath. Our Chamber Choir will be 'ascending' to the Bishop's Balcony to sing this beautiful choral service on the day we celebrate Jesus' ascending into heaven - forty days after Easter. Our Abbey Missioner, Revd Betsy Blatchley will lead the service (from the ground!) with prayers for our city and a chance to join together at the end in song.

A wonderful afternoon at our recent Be A Chorister event 🎶 We were delighted to welcome thirteen girls who enjoyed exploring the Abbey and Song School, getting creative with a craft activity, and even joining the choir for Evensong. As one parent shared: “It’s a great way to understand the mechanics and behind-the-scenes workings of the Abbey choir.” If you’d like to find out more about becoming a chorister, visit our website

🔧 Caring for our Abbey, for generations to come This spring, essential conservation work is underway on the Tower at Bath Abbey — helping to protect this much-loved building from future weather damage. Following leaks into the bell chamber, we’re replacing the ageing lead covering with a modern, more resilient system, alongside repairs to the historic timber and stone beneath. While this work takes place, our Tower Tours will look a little different — but still offer a unique behind-the-scenes glimpse, including access to the Nave roof and the chance to explore parts of the tower usually unseen. Thank you for your patience and support as we care for this sacred space — ensuring it remains a place of worship, wonder and welcome for many years to come. 👉 Find out more on our website 🔗

Sunshine, song, and a weekend to remember ☀️🎶 Our Abbey Girls' Choir and Lay Clerks enjoyed a wonderful choir tour to Westminster Abbey last weekend. From singing services in this iconic setting to unforgettable moments across London, it was a truly special few days. Highlights included a behind-the-scenes tour of Parliament, exploring the wonders of the Natural History Museum, a visit to Harrods, and a scenic boat ride along the Thames to Tower Bridge. A heartfelt thank you to everyone at Westminster Abbey — especially the staff and vergers — for such a warm welcome. @westminsterabbeylondon #ChoirTour #London #WestminsterAbbey #Choristers

🌍 This Earth Day, we’re reflecting on how we care for creation — together. At Bath Abbey, caring for the environment is part of our mission — woven into our worship, our community life, and the way we steward this historic space. We’re proud to have been awarded a Silver Eco Church Award by A Rocha UK — a recognition of the steps we’re taking to care for God’s creation across everything we do, from our buildings and land to our teaching and outreach. As one of our mission partners, A Rocha UK also inspires and challenges us to keep going — reminding us that caring for the Earth is an ongoing journey, not a finished task. 🌱 This #EarthDay, we invite you to pause, look a little closer, and consider how each of us can play a part in protecting and nurturing the world around us. @arocha_uk @earthday.org #EarthDay #EcoChurch #BathAbbey #CareForCreation

Our wonderful flower arrangers keep the Abbey gently in step with the seasons… 🌿🌸 Easy to miss at first glance. But if you pause, and look a little longer, you’ll start to notice them: delicate details, thoughtful placement, small moments of beauty that reflect the changing world just beyond our doors. A reminder that even the simplest things can invite us to slow down, reflect, and take it all in. Next time you visit, don’t rush past. Look a little longer. 🍃

Have you ever had a moment where everything suddenly made sense? Where confusion lifted… and something shifted within you? In the story of the road to Emmaus, two disciples walk with heavy hearts—disappointed, uncertain, and trying to make sense of everything that has happened. And then, in the middle of an ordinary journey, Jesus meets them. Not with quick answers, but by walking alongside them. And slowly, something changes. Hope returns. Clarity begins to grow. “Were not our hearts burning within us…?” — Gospel of Luke This Easter season, we’re reminded that Jesus still meets us in the everyday—in our conversations, our questions, even in the places that feel uncomfortable or unresolved. Whatever you’re carrying right now, you don’t have to carry it alone. So let’s keep it honest: What’s on your heart this week?
