Romain Batard is a French skate filmmaker and special effects artist whose work blurs the line between the two. He’s the main filmmaker for Carhartt WIP and has created 13 episodes of his ongoing Giddy series, exploring a different concept in each.
His approach is technical yet raw. When brands need him to blur signs and logos, he creates detailed, textured replacements for a natural feel. When he breaks a camera, he fixes it himself, having become an expert at repairing Panasonic P2s and VXs. You see this casual flair in his filming, always pushing closer with his fisheye than expected.
