the joy that this group has brought to each of its members is immeasurable. who knew a casual a cappella meeting among a few close friends would turn into a such a fun, diverse, and talented women’s group🥹
happy 10 year anniversary to basic pitch! a note from our founders (Ally, Grace, Jillian & Celine):
It’s hard to believe, but today it has been 10 years since we founded Basic Pitch! We started the group as a way to reconnect with our friends who we sang with in college, and to bring a little bit of that a cappella joy into our grown-up lives. We could have never imagined Basic Pitch would still be in existence 10 years later, and it warms our hearts to watch your Instagram videos and see you all thriving and keeping the magic alive.
Our original group members hailed from many different a cappella groups, including the Bostonians of Boston College, the Boston College Acoustics, the Skidmore Accents, the Connecticut College ConnChords, Cape Harmony, and more. Some of us knew each other, and some of us were strangers, but we built bonds that can only be forged through building something creative together.
Some of my favorite memories:
- Our first show at Cake Shop NYC (now closed)
- Getting matching nameplate necklaces!
- Our holiday show at Arlene’s Grocery in 2016, where we had a packed house with all of our friends and family in attendance 🎁
- 2017 retreat at Lauren Parra’s house in New Jersey- singing, playing games, visiting a winery together 🍷
- BP show after parties in the lower east side 💃 and partying/hanging out together, in general🩷
