Today we are announcing the winner of the Bamboo Housing Contest, in collaboration with @basebuilds .
We were incredibly impressed by the submissions. There were so many thoughtful and well-resolved ideas exploring how bamboo housing can become more dignified, resilient and scalable in the future.
The winning proposal stood out for its simplicity, clarity of construction and sensitive response to tropical living, while still feeling warm, generous and human.
Over the coming months, we’ll be working with BASE Bahay and the winning team to further develop the proposal before constructing it during Bamboo U’s October 2026 Build and Design In-Person course in Bali.
