People have said plenty about grand expressions of emotion. Yet more often, a mother‘s care comes quietly, like a cup of hot tea handed to you at the right moment, steadily and softly sustaining our lives and feelings in the long everyday.
Mother’s Day doesn‘t need declarations. It reminds us to notice that quiet care that silently supports everything. With a small, pause-filled ritual, I give to the one who rarely stops for herself. May the scent of the tea slowly unfold, and in this moment she too can reclaim time and ease for herself.

🍵 10 sommeliers and F&B decision-makers from Shanghai‘s top tables — The Pine, Au Bouchon, VIVANT, 8½ Otto e Mezzo BOMBANA, Andaz Nanjing — sat down to taste the full BASAO line.
The question wasn’t ”is this tea good.“ They know good tea. The question was: can this work on my floor?
🍽️ We ran the same two pairings. Red oolong kombucha with salmon avocado cones and passion fruit cake. Dark oolong with Parma ham and nut tart. One sommelier called the red oolong + salmon pairing ”a symphony“ — the acidity and carbonation cutting through the fat the way a good blanc de blancs would.
What surprised us: multiple sommeliers independently compared the kombucha to Champagne. Not as a metaphor — as a functional equivalent in a pairing context. Sparkling, structured, food-friendly, zero alcohol.
🥂 The bigger signal? Not a single guest said ”not interested.“ Every one of them wanted to explore next steps — samples for their team, pairing proposals for their current menus, pricing for procurement.
Non-alcoholic pairing in China isn‘t a concept anymore. It’s entering the workflow. We‘re working with BASAO to make sure the right product meets the right tables.

🍽️ 红乌龙康普茶配三文鱼牛油果蛋卷，有侍酒师说像一首交响乐——气泡的酸度把油脂托起来，层次感一下就出来了。黑乌龙康普茶配帕尔玛火腿和坚果挞，重一点、稳一点，走的是另一个路线。
最有意思的是，好几位侍酒师喝完康普茶以后，不约而同把它和香槟放在一起比。不是打比方，是真的觉得在配餐的功能性上，这个东西可以站住。
