The winner of the Wendy Macey Boxer of the Tournament, kindly and expertly chosen by Billy Macey, went to Martin “Nipper” Ward of Rainham Boxing Club.
Billy was meticulous in watching all the boxers throughout the tournament, even speaking to the ones he had his eye on. To win this award, a boxer must not only show great skill in the ring but also carry themselves with respect and class outside of it – representing boxing in the best light.
Martin embodies all of this and more. Ultra-talented, he stopped every one of his tough opponents on his way to winning gold. I’ve known Martin for a while, and his ability to read a bout, adapt, and take control is second to none.
