We’re out at The 224 Collective getting set up now and for once the weather decided to act right. 😮‍💨☀️ It’s seriously a beautiful day to come grab hibachi, so if you needed a sign, this is probably it. We’ll be here today from 12 to 5 at 1111 Boardman-Canfield Rd in Boardman. Menu is posted, online ordering is open at bartellstake.square.site, and we’ll also be taking orders right at the window. Come hang out, grab lunch, grab an early dinner, or just use the weather as your excuse to not cook. We fully support that. 😂🧡

This is one of those posts we never thought we’d be writing… but also one we’re really proud to share. Yesterday, Birdfish reached out because their food vendor for today unfortunately had to cancel. Anyone who knows Birdfish knows they have always been incredibly supportive of us, so without hesitation we said yes and were so grateful for the opportunity. We stayed up late last night prepping, got up early this morning to finish prep and start cooking, and were ready to head out. Then… our truck that pulls the trailer wouldn’t start. Alarm going off, nothing happening when we turned the key. We spent over an hour trying everything we could think of. At that point we felt defeated, frustrated, and honestly just disappointed in ourselves because we felt like we were letting everyone down. And then… the best part of this story happened. Our amazing friends who own Kip’s Tacos saw our post and immediately called us offering to bring their truck for us to use. I was literally sitting there in shock at how kind that was. At the same time, we were getting messages from people we don’t even know personally offering to come pull our trailer. Josh from Birdfish offered to help us set up a table inside and do things catering style if needed. Friends helped us push our truck out of the way, and another friend showed up and let us borrow his truck. You guys. You literally saved the day. We say it all the time, but you continue to prove it over and over. We truly have the most amazing community around us, and we could not be more thankful. The kindness, the support, the willingness to jump in and help… it honestly means everything to us. And thank you to all of you. For following along with us, checking on us, encouraging us, supporting us, and always showing up for us. Days like today remind us exactly why we do this. 🖤🔥 We are so filled with gratitude that we almost forgot about the broken down truck in our driveway… almost 😏

Meet the Bartell’s Take Fam | Part 1 | Justin, The Man Behind the Grill If you’ve ever grabbed a meal from our window, there’s a very good chance the person cooking it for you was Justin Bartell. Long before Bartell’s Take was a trailer, a logo, or a name on a menu… it started with a guy who loved Can’s Tokyo House and missed it deeply when it closed. Justin was a lifelong customer, and like so many of you, he joined the Can’s Tokyo House Facebook group just to read the memories, look at the pictures, and relive what that place meant to this community. When he saw people trying to recreate the food at home, he decided to try it too. He cooked. He tweaked. He tried again. And when the food was shared, something unexpected happened. People started reaching out asking if they could buy a plate. (Funny story on this coming in a future post 😂) What started as cooking for the love of the food and the community quickly became a very real realization… this food still mattered. And the experience around it still mattered. Justin never set out to start a business. He just loved cooking. He loved people. And he missed what Can’s meant to Youngstown. Fast forward through a lot of learning, a lot of fear, a lot of risk, and a lot of late nights, and here we are today. Justin is the heart ♥️ of this trailer. He preps the food. He stocks it. He cooks it. He cleans. He worries if your wait is too long. He worries if your meal isn’t perfect. He remembers you. And he genuinely cares that you showed up. He does all of this while being a dad of three, building something he hopes one day his kids can be proud of and maybe even be part of. This post kicks off a weekly series where we introduce you to the people behind the window. Because Bartell’s Take has never been about just food. It’s about people, community, and the connections we’re building with you along the way. If Justin has ever made your meal, said hi at the window, or helped bring back a little Tokyo House nostalgia for you… drop a 👋 or a comment below and show him some love. Next week, we introduce another member of the Bartell’s Take fam. 🧡 — with Justin Bartell.
