Hop on a FREE vintage bus from The Meeting Place (Duke St) to the University of Cumbria Barrow campus, then head back afterwards for live music - with free entry to @themeetingplacebarrow for all attendees! 👀 We’re so excited to reveal the official event imagery for Barrow Does Comics, a brand new event coming to Barrow town centre on Saturday 18th April, designed by talented comic artist @lyndondraws . Working with @lakesinternationalcomics , we’ll be bringing comic artists from all over the world (including some brilliant Barrovian talent) into town centre venues for workshops, discussions, signings and more. At the heart of the event will be a marketplace for artists to showcase and sell their work. Aimed at 16-25 year olds, the event celebrates creative opportunities, whether you enjoy art as a hobby or are thinking about pursuing it as a career. And that’s not all! The wonderful Festival of Colours by @barrowfull will also be taking place on the same day, meaning together we’ll be filling Barrow town centre with colour, creativity and inspiration. This event has been made possible thanks to funding from @aceagrams , alongside the support of our sponsors and partners: Barrow Rising, @cumbriauni , @wandfcouncil , Barrow Town Council, @furnessmedia , Graphix Signs, @cgpbooks.uk , @lugevents , @thederbybarrow , @themeetingplacebarrow , @hiexbarrow , @thedukehotelandbar and @coffeedashuk . 🎨 Top comic artists have donated original, one-off seagull inspired artworks for ArtWorks Art4All CIC "What the Flock?" charity auction and exhibition! The collection includes a zombified seagull by Charlie Adlard, best known for The Walking Dead, alongside work from other artists and illustrators. “What the Flock?” Exhibitions & Auctions run from 22nd April-3rd May at The Dock Museum and 25th April-2nd May at The Bridge, Portland Walk. Barrow Does Comics was incredible! Thanks to everyone who helped make the event special. For checking out my books, coming to the Heartstopper panel, asking questions, drawing dragons, hanging out at the live draw and generally showing a love for reading and comics. The Barrow Does Comics opening event on Friday at the University of Cumbria Barrow campus was the perfect way to kick off the weekend! We’re at Holiday Inn Express, Barrow-in-Furness & South Lakes for Lyndon White’s workshop “Here Be Dragons”, learning from the master of fantasy comic art himself! Lyndon is the artist behind our Barrow Does Comics dragon, so it’s extra special to see him in action. You can catch Lyndon later at The Meeting Place today at 3:30pm, where he’ll be sketching alongside Sarah Jane Docker and Mollie Ray - come along and grab a sketch!
