[Noticias / News] Inauguración / Opening 09.05.2026 La Biennale di Venezia Pabellón Argentino, Arsenale Matías Duville MONITOR YIN YANG Curaduría / Curator Josefina Barcia Monitor Yin Yang propone un desplazamiento clave: dejar de pensar el dibujo como representación para entenderlo como un territorio en fricción, donde la experiencia corporal, el sonido y el tiempo activan una cartografía inestable. En ese espacio, lo frágil no aparece como una falla, sino como una condición de potencia. Al mismo tiempo, la obra introduce una reflexión sobre la mediación contemporánea: cómo percibimos el mundo a través de sistemas de registro, monitoreo y traducción. —Josefina Barcia - Monitor Yin Yang proposes a key shift: to stop thinking of drawing as representation and instead understand it as a territory in friction, where bodily experience, sound, and time activate an unstable cartography. In that space, fragility does not appear as a flaw but as a condition of potential. Matías Duville: Monitor Yin Yang vía @e_flux The Argentine Pavilion at the 61st International Venice Biennale presents Monitor Yin Yang, a site-specific installation by artist Matías Duville (Buenos Aires, 1974) curated by Josefina Barcia. The project transforms the pavilion into a traversable landscape constructed from salt and charcoal, expanding drawing—one of the central languages in Duville’s practice—into a spatial, sonic, and performative environment. Conceived as an immersive installation, Monitor Yin Yang proposes an open cartography that does not represent a specific place but unfolds as a territory activated by movement. Opening tomorrow: “Grafismos desterrados”, a solo show by Argentinian artist Lucrecia Lionti “Drawing becomes a displaced gesture, a mark that insists on its own instability, resisting fixed meanings while tracing the tensions between body, territory, and language.” — Clàudia Flores Colominas In “Grafismos desterrados”, Lucrecia Lionti presents a new body of textile works, most of them produced between 2025 and 2026 specifically for the exhibition, continuing a series initiated in 2024 titled “Grafismos de lana” Working through different groups of works, Lionti alternates between pieces built from specific phrases and concepts, often linked to political and social realities, and others that lean toward a more formal and abstract language, consistently grounded in textile materiality. Here, line, symbol and gesture emerge through weaving, allowing meaning to remain open, sensed rather than fixed. The exhibition is shaped by her time in Barcelona, and by the work of two Argentine figures who lived here in exile at different moments: the poet Juana Bignozzi and the writer and theorist Oscar Masotta. It also stems from a shift in her own practice, from writing with words toward a form of expression marked by displacement, where language falters and is reconfigured. In this context, weaving becomes a way of continuing to write when words no longer arrive as expected. [Noticias / News] Nueva representación / New representation: Luciana Lamothe @lucianalamothe Luciana Lamothe (Buenos Aires, 1975) es una artista visual cuya práctica abarca la escultura, la performance, el dibujo, la fotografía y el video. Su obra investiga la capacidad transformadora de la materia a través de las relaciones entre materiales, cuerpos y espacios. Conceptos como la transmaterialidad y la monomaterialidad funcionan como estrategias centrales para explorar el potencial físico, simbólico y experiencial de los materiales. Lamothe crea espacios de indeterminación que ponen a prueba los límites y las tensiones entre condiciones opuestas —rígido y flexible, blando y duro, uso y función, industrial y natural, humano y no humano—, reconfigurando cómo habitamos y percibimos el mundo. - Luciana Lamothe (Buenos Aires, 1975) is a visual artist whose practice spans sculpture, performance, drawing, photography, and video. Her work investigates the transformative capacity of matter through the relationships between materials, bodies, and spaces. Concepts such as transmateriality and monomateriality function as central strategies for exploring the physical, symbolic, and experiential potential of materials.
