Had to repost this video of “The Shot” now that its been released.
I had made a beat with this sample ages ago and decided to rework it and use it as an opportunity to start learning the APC mk2. It ended up being a lot of fun even just doing really basic launching of clips and I was really happy with the reworked version.
I think it may be my favorite of the batch on the tape.

I loved @dcharnas book “The Big Payback” so I was stoked to see he wrote Dilla Time. Just a few chapters in and it’s excellent so far. Love his ability to provide deep historical context in a way that is still pretty concise and always interesting.
Always leaves me with a number of tabs open with google searches to explore later. I love the companion playlist he put together as well. Gotta listen to each of the songs referenced as you read.
