Join us to hear best-selling crime author Michael Wood talk about his journey into publishing, focusing on his gripping Sheffield-set detective series featuring DCI Matilda Darke.
Born in Sheffield, Michael was a journalist and proof-reader before becoming a full-time author. He has also written the hugely popular Dr Olivia Winter series of psychological thrillers, as well as several standalone novels.
When he's not trying to think up ingenious ways of murdering people, Michael is reading books about ingenious ways of murdering people while drinking incredibly strong black coffee and biting the heads off a Freddo!
Michael now lives in Newcastle.

Morag has chosen Lucinda Riley's 'The Sun Sister' as her recommended read:
"I absolutely love the history in her books and how you find out about different countries. My sister buys me one of her books every birthday and I've now started re-reading them as they're so good."
We would love you to join Barnsley's Joy of Reading conversation. To take part, just message us with a photo of you holding your chosen book and tell us why you like it.

We are not sure when this 1908 book was last borrowed from Penistone Free Library (opened 1913), but it was returned by a local man who found it during a house clearance and thought we might like it back!
Judging by its condition, the book of short stories was clearly well-loved.
The book's Manchester-born author John Oxenham (1852-1942) was a prolific journalist and novelist, but was best known for his poetry published in the early twentieth century, which encouraged bravery, hope and faith in troubled times.
This treasured time will now live out its days in our book stack.
