The May edition of our BOB Talks series is set for Tuesday, May 12 from 6:30-8. It's going to be a gooder.
Dr. Mathieu Bourbonnais is a research chair in wildfire management at the University of British Columbia - Okanagan and the lead of the Fire Ecology and Remote Sensing Lab. A former wildland firefighter, he is the Director of the Canadian Prescribed Fire Training Program and Co-Director of the UBC Centre for Wildfire Coexistence.
He will be focusing on: ‘Where to from here? The history and future of wildfire in British Columbia’. In this talk, Dr. Bourbonnais will discuss the ecological role of fire in ecosystems of BC and the Okanagan, why wildfire seasons are becoming increasingly destructive, and the tools and solutions we have available to better protect our communities and ecosystems.
