Watch to the end ! About an hour after my last post, our pair did the ceremonial bill dipping and diving, before their third attempt in 24 hours. When I left this afternoon, our female Ista was on the nest alone in the pouring rain 🤞🤞🤞

As I canoed over the flooded driveway to the point last week, I saw our pair was just off the point. I grabbed a life jacket and finally caught up to them. They were foraging like crazy, splashing up and down constantly.
Welcome back to the Moon my friends...your nest is ready for new babies !

SOUND ON...This is the ending of a previous post from June 22nd . As well as showing the various Loons calls, it also clearly shows our male and female differences.
Here the male takes a break off the second egg, and yodels as he approaches his mate and firstborn. Notice his choker, clearly showing 10 pearls...only males yodel ! His beak is also longer than the female.
Then you can see the female on the left, and her 4+4, eight pearled choker and shorter, thicker beak. Documenting these differences, is the only way we can tell the sex without tags.
Notice our 3 hour old chick, diving under already 😮
