back from the archives with my favourite italian hidden gems in brunswick
@baridda
02.02.2024. when i discovered this corner gem in brunswick and since then, have gone out with friends for a quick snack, drinks at night or have merely recommended this when walking past it millions of times. serving sicilian cuisine (my favourite kind of italian food) and dare i say one of my favourite focaccia breads still to this day, says alot.
🥖 focaccia, stracciatella, dried herbs, garlic olive oil 4.8/5
🥕Giardiniera, house pickles 4.5/5 weird i dont usually care about it but cut thru all
🍆 mulinciani, (baked layered eggplant), passata, buffalo mozzarella, basil, pecorino 4.6/5
🍝 maccaroni, twirled pasta, slow cooked beef & pork ragu 4.3/5
🐑 agneddu, slow roasted lamb shoulder, fagioli cannellini, conza spice, pistachio 4.25/5
so hard to find ragu that hits the spot, is cooked well but not too well done, and isnt to wine-y. this ragu pasta was just enough. al dente pasta, and the tomato wasn’t too much whilst still allowing the meat to shine through subtly but deeply.
ill wait to find anything near replaceable to this ambient lively crowded restaurant that is filled with energy, aromatic foods, and passionate friends and chefs united. its got a graceful antique charm that is so original to its culture. Unassuming high quality italian that I kept in my drafts for so long bc i wanted to gatekeep for the longest time.
