📓 OVERVIEW: Vocoders are a technology that transforms any sound to resemble human speech (traditionally synth or guitar). Basically, the electric trombone recording is "multiplied" by a recording of me speaking the lyrics–an oversimplification but DM if you want a more technical explanation. The result is a trombone that sounds like it's talking. Neat!

🔍 DEETS: Here, I blindly took a solo with only the harmonizer/distortion in my monitor. Without concern for words, I just tried to take the dopest solo I could. I RETROACTIVELY wrote lyrics and recorded myself speaking/singing them along with the solo into the vocoder.

You will battle ghosts with an electric trombone in this webgl experience. This is a method of defining ghosts without the typical triangular meshes in 3D graphics. I’m defining them with implicit surfaces—math equations that describe distorted spheres glooped together. Kind of a vibe—makes it easy to make a ton of funny looking ghosts procedurally. Heavily inspired by and making use of the work of the graphics genius @inigoquilez . In a compute shader, I'm raymarching from unit sphere positions onto SDFs. Then I'm sending the resulting positions to the particle mesh vertex shader. (For now, they are glued to the derived position—but soon I’ll add some GPGPU particle physics for more interesting behavior.)

Often when we ask the question, "Are humans inherently good or evil?" we are secretly asking whether we should be optimistic about the future or despair. Granted, there is clearly a ton of evil in our past, present and future. However, because we are fundamentally adaptable, we have infinite potential. IF WE ARE VIGILANT. None of our moral progress has ever come for free as a result of our nature. To the extent we have improved ourselves, we have done so through bravery, sacrifice, and vision. So we're not guaranteed to improve, by any means. Forks in the road abound. But. If we are willing to continue to work on ourselves, there is fundamentally no limit to how good we can be.
