A vinyl-only journey through dark, acid-driven sounds. The opening moves slow and deep—hypnotic textures, stripped-back grooves, and a steady build of tension. Acid lines creep in gradually, blending into the mix without overpowering it, creating a subtle but constant pull. Long, fluid transitions keep the flow locked, letting each record breathe while the energy rises step by step. Welcome back to the second instalment of Pick ‘n’ Mix - A mix series curated by SnS for those with a sweet tooth. For this mix we have an hour of high quality, dark and sexy records from Italian vinyl maestro Barbe. I have known Barbe since the near inception of Sugar ‘n’ Spice where we bonded over our love for deep, dark and heavy selections and have kept in contact ever since. When it came to selecting guests for the mix series, it was a no brainer to bring this man on. Also considering we don’t think we know anyone else who buys as many records as Barbe, it seems he owns every record on the market worth owning! Barbe is the co-owner of @plastiquecuts alongside good friends @corazz.exp and @angelo.fiorenzo , a record shop based in their home town of Portogruaro, Venice but also shipping to Europe via their Discogs. We would definitely recommend having a browse of their collection, we’d be surprised if you didn’t find something you like. Together they also run a podcast named Plastique Box, a spaceship style container in which they host quality underground selectors, and are approaching 30 episodes. Go and check them out!
