On Sunday, BAPS and residents on Upper Walthamstow Rd organised their first Street Party since 1977!
Neighbours young and old came out to enjoy the sunshine, meet and play together. A big thanks to everyone who joined us, and a special thanks to @alicemoves who pulled it all together! 🥳💐🐝🥰🥂☀️
Upper Walthamstow Jumble Trail will be back this year on Sunday 28 June, 12-4pm - book your stall now!

Always a highlight in the community, a great chance to have a clear out while meeting and chatting with neighbours.
Book your stall here: https://bit.ly/UWJT2026
Proceeds from the stall fees go to our wonderful residents' association who organise fantastic community events such as the children's sports activities during the summer holidays, flower triangle planting, and work hard to ensure Upper Walthamstow is a social and biodiverse place to live.
When signing up you'll also have the option to register for an advertising estate agent's board - we get a donation for every one of these too with no cost or effort to you so it's definitely worth it.
Can't wait to see you on the trail!

Our fabulous Flower Triangle really living up to it's name!
This will be one of BAPS contributions to the Upper Walthamstow Garden Trail...
Do you have a wildlife friendly garden to share? To take part - contact [email protected]
There's still time to become a garden trail host!
We're looking for wildlife supporting gardens to take part in the Upper Walthamstow Garden Trail
💌If you would like to open your garden or have any queries please contact us, ideally by end of March.

🦋Upper Walthamstow Garden Trail for Butterfly Conservation, taking place Sunday 28 June, 12-4pm.
🐝Is your garden home to wildlife and a place for pollinators to visit? Would you like to open your garden to help spread the word about the importance of planting for butterflies, moths and other insects in this time of climate instability?
🌱A front or back garden of any size would be a great addition to our trail. This is not a traditional show garden event and a patch of nettles or other caterpillar food may possibly have pride of place. It is also likely the messier the garden the more life supporting it will be.
🌺Ideas such as maximising surface area to provide shelter, food and micro-climates are key - great examples are bug hotels, compost heaps, dead hedges and ponds.
How will it work?
📌As a host, your garden will be pinned on the map for visitors to find.
👨👩👧👦Between 12-4pm you will receive visitors
💸Hosts are welcome to take donations to support the work of Butterfly Conservation but there is no fee or minimum donation to take 'on the door'. We will also share a link for visitors to donate directly.
📜You will receive leaflets via BAPs about butterfly conservation to share with visitors.
Why are we doing this?
🥀More than two-thirds of our native butterflies have suffered declines since the 1970’s with many species vanishing
altogether from areas where habitat has been destroyed.
🐛We can all help to protect butterflies and moths by creating insect-friendly gardens at home and by inviting the public to see or visiting others on our Upper Walthamstow Garden Trail in aid of the nature charity Butterfly Conservation.
🌿Peat-free compost and zero use of herbicides will also be part of the way forward to encourage a sustainable and thriving ecosystem.
We hope you will join us by sharing your garden, let us know by 28 March. 🦋

Thank you to all the wonderful volunteers who came down to plant up the Flower Triangle and support wildlife habitat in our community. A huge effort has been made and the result is a beautiful space for everyone to enjoy. Special thanks to @drew_sharon for initiating the project and the crowd funder, and to @fortheoutdoors_ for the design and commitment to making it happen.
It already looks beautiful but we can't wait to see the Triangle in the spring!

*FLOWER TRIANGLE UPDATE*
🐞🐛🌱🪻🦟🪲🌼🌷🦋🪰
Hey everyone, we’re finally almost ready to get planting the ‘flower triangle’ that a lot of you kindly donated to our crowd fund (quite a while ago!)
🧤If anyone would like to help out this Saturday 15th November there’s going to be plenty of jobs to do. Anytime time between *10-3pm* would be amazing. Just bring some gardening gloves, trowel and secateurs (if you have) we will have some tools to give out.
🌷We'll be planting the main beds with a ton of flowering perennials and grasses, tidying up the tree pits and seeding with wildflowers and bulbs for next year.
🐝 We’re also going to be maintaining the street to keep it from being sprayed with pesticides. Bee posts and insect habitats have already been installed 😍
There’s also litter picking, chalking for the kids if it’s stays dry and helping to fill the habitats.
Hope to see you there!🌸🌷🌼🍁🌱🪲🍂🐛🐝🐞🌳
