Today I saw a Bee with Lichen, and wondered why?
Upon doing a little research it would seem that bees may get nutrients, moisture and minerals from lichen/fungi when flowers are scare or benefit from the sugary sap seeping from the bark, often from oak trees.
Tree a habitat for many; Bees, Lichens, Mosses and caterpillars (who are hard to identify before they turn to moths).

Artworks has created an amazing bug hotel at Grow Parkhurst, all that's left is filling it up with organic matter. Made solely from recycled and upcycled materials, we cannot wait to see the final outcome!
Thank you to @s.h.a.l.i.n.i for the wonderful images of her experience of our first bespoke Creative Horticultural Workshop of 2026.
Conceptualised, facilitated and created by Creative by Nature our Creative Horticultural Workshops explore the undeniable connection between humans and nature, and tap into the power of creativity, networks, patterns and cycles which guide us and endlessly inspire.
This workshop found it's direction in new beginnings, the color yellow, sensory plants Incredible Edible Parkhurst like rose geraniums, rosemary, wild garlic, lemon verbena, lavender, purple cone flower, and intentions were set amongst the Spekboom and with biodiversity in mind, everyone went home with a Baobug bug hotel from the Baobab Collab
