Kicking off 2026 with purpose and momentum 🐝 🐝
After receiving repeat funding from the @theiris_project , we’ve stepped up to take the lead in implementation-expanding our impact from nursing over 50,000 cocoa and coffee seedlings, to constructing more beehives and harvesting over 50kg of honey, @Bangs Circular deepening community engagement and supporting access to sustainable livelihoods opportunities.
We’re also proud to extend our support to partner initiatives like @dikiesnectar , strengthening collaboration and shared growth.

Did you know that last year, the Gola-Tiwai Complex, including Tiwai Island, became Sierra Leone's first UNESCO World Heritage site?
From Seed Prize Runner-up to Stem Prize Winner, the Tiwai Honey Initiative is a prime example of how dedicated work and believing in your cause will always be recognised.
The project addresses the declining bee population and its impact on communities surrounding the Tiwai Island Wildlife Sanctuary in Sierra Leone by training over 1000 community members on sustainable beekeeping practices and the management of beehives 🐝

Here’s a second look at our recent harvest with the incredible team at @bangs_circular on Tiwai Island. They were on-site advising our crew from @dikiesnectar during this season’s collection.
Bangs Circular works with eight communities across Pujehun and Kenema districts, managing 300 hives in the forest as part of a sustainable beekeeping project that protects the forest while providing vital income for local families. And yes—the bees will definitely remember us.

Aruna started out as a 2023 Seed Prize runner-up, and the Tiwai Honey Project has grown massively since 🐝
Since winning the 2024 Stem Prize, they have successfully built over 300 beehives in eight communities, resulting in an impressive 80% increase in the local bee population 📈
