Oh to write a book by the sea 🎶🎵Oh a sailor’s life for me 🎶🎵
A million eternal thank yous to @lighthouseartsnewcastle & @hunterwriterscentre for an extraordinary residency 💕 I made such progress on the novel, & can only credit the ocean & my fellow brilliant residents 🌊 I pulled the 10 of wands which Jessi said was the card of exhaustion, a kind of tired that’s accumulated from months of travel & saying a constant goodbye. But being here was good rest & focus I’d needed.
I love Nobby’s Head, I love Newcastle, I love mastering oyster shucking & listening to the ocean’s rich noise. I am rejuvenated & know that my project has a pulse🫀

Cambodia I loved—I’ve never seen ruins like Angkor Wat at sunrise. Felt solid by the sea in Kep, in Kampot pepper fields, in Siem Reap.
In Phnom Penh I visited the S-21 prison & saw a human jawbone on the ground in the Killing Fields. Now more than ever I’m unsure of what a cemetery really is; a planned space for death, yes? A collection of graves? A spiritual dumping ground? A boundary defined by the mass slaughter of a defenseless populace? More & more I find deathwork invigorating but at turns hypocritical, isolating, futile. The work of deciphering Chinese headstones or reading about Khmer memorialization felt like contrarian research sometimes, as my home country’s greatest export is death, abroad & domestic.
Regardless, Cambodians are at work—digging up the 26 million mines Kissinger dropped & memorializing the dead & restoring cultural heritage temples. There is Life After America & it is far better than life During. Those days are numbered.
Traveled for the last six months, looked up, & turned thirty 💕 this time last year I was stargazing in the Sahara, wondering whether I could leave Brooklyn to renounce all worldly possessions & carry my home on my back like a little snail.
I’m glad the stars told me to LOCK IN. Happy end to my Saturn return 🪐 happy Nancy day. An abolished ICE & a free Palestine are my bday wishes so in lieu of gifts you can help me accomplish those endeavors with the links in my bio 💕

Passed the new year in Thailand & entered 2026 with my heels on fire when my lantern caught flame & I had to stomp it out🔥 🏮
Enrolled in a cooking class, rode boats in Krabi, met local 🌈s at @sapphic_riot , chatted with temple monks on how to be a better Buddhist. I saw the @wingonwoandco exhibit at @kalm_village which was a small taste of home 💕

This year I got extra-certified as a death doula with @yourmorbidfriends & am lucky enough to travel & learn about deathcare outside the States alongside my training! Bohermore I couldn’t take worthwhile photos because my phone was dying in Galway, & Bab Mahrouk I couldn’t enter because I’m not Muslim so I walked around the gate. The rest I enjoyed visiting, studying, & talking with graveworkers at immensely—from old traditional marble slabs to neo-Shinto mounds. Happy New Year indeed 💕
(Tokyo, Nara, Kyoto, Osaka + Kansai Region)
My first Buddhist cemetery was Okunoin in Wakayama Prefecture and seeing the moss + 600-year-old trees + stone Shinto gates provoked a spiritual reckoning that also could have been the altitude sickness I got from taking the Shinkansen to 4 different mountain altitudes in under 6 hours so I guess we’ll never know whether I was called to Lord Buddha or not 😌
Aoyama, Yanaka, and Okunoin Cemeteries coming up on the Graveyard Shift soon 💕
