Our species of the week is the Double-crested Cormorant! Visit the Ballona Wetlands to see it in action this spring. It might be fishing in Ballona Creek, flying overhead with nesting material, or perched on a rock to dry its wings.
Spring is in the air and our 4th Saturday habitat stewardship event was full of enthusiastic stewards ready to pull invasive weeds!
Join the Land Trust team, our volunteers, and CDFW along the Fiji Trail in Area A of the Ballona Wetlands Ecological Reserve, every 2nd and 4th Saturday from 9am to 11am! RSVP link in bio!
This month’s act of service around the city was with the Ballona Wetlands Habitat Stewardship. THE last remaining coastal wetland in LA 🌼 Loved spending a Saturday morning outdoors for Earth Day! Thanks for joining me @flynnderellaa 🩷

A few weeks ago, the Angeles Workshop School used public transit to visit Area A and engage in hands-on activities to learn about the Ballona Wetlands!
The Land Trust and other organizations advocated tirelessly for wildlife-friendly public access to Area A of the Ballona Wetlands Ecological Reserve. CDFW opened the gates to Area A in 2022, and we remain deeply appreciative because this allows our team to lead tours for nature appreciation and education.
Let us know if your community is interested in a tour with us, or take yourself for a stroll along Fiji Trail!
Area A is open Wednesday-Saturday | 8am-1pm 😁
