Our species of the week is the Double-crested Cormorant! Visit the Ballona Wetlands to see it in action this spring. It might be fishing in Ballona Creek, flying overhead with nesting material, or perched on a rock to dry its wings.

A few weeks ago, the Angeles Workshop School used public transit to visit Area A and engage in hands-on activities to learn about the Ballona Wetlands! The Land Trust and other organizations advocated tirelessly for wildlife-friendly public access to Area A of the Ballona Wetlands Ecological Reserve. CDFW opened the gates to Area A in 2022, and we remain deeply appreciative because this allows our team to lead tours for nature appreciation and education. Let us know if your community is interested in a tour with us, or take yourself for a stroll along Fiji Trail! Area A is open Wednesday-Saturday | 8am-1pm 😁
