Eventually getting around to sharing Shaunagh & Sam’s unforgettable wedding at @breaffyhousehotel , Castlebar, and I’m so grateful to Shauna for kindly sending through these stunning images from their August day. The photographs give a glimpse of the beauty — but this wedding was truly not for the faint-hearted. With over 40 years’ experience in floristry and 21 years in my own business, I can honestly say it was one of the most complex and rewarding projects we’ve undertaken. It required not just floristry, but detailed project management, logistics, teamwork and absolute trust, carried out over three to four intensive days on site. Every wedding we create is special, but this one stood out in a very meaningful way this year — and will remain a true career highlight for me. Spent today with my friend Yvonne Miland at @milandsgardencentre in Mountbellew Co Galway🌿 Honestly, I was completely in awe of the place. Yvonne gave me a full tour around the business premises and it is absolutely incredible. From every type of outdoor shrub, tree and plant imaginable, to stunning ceramic pots, indoor and outdoor planters, beautiful garden accessories, homeware and giftware — it genuinely has everything. The displays throughout the store are just beautiful. Gorgeous handbags, cushions, decorative pieces, gifts and inspiration around every corner. You could honestly spend hours walking around it all. It's the type of destination shop that has absolutely everything under one roof — and to think it’s only about an hour from my house. I even treated myself to a few little bits while I was there because there were just too many beautiful things not to! 💚 Yvonne also treated me to lunch .. During the week their beautiful coffee shop is openon site. We had such a lovely catch-up. We first met back in 2019 when we travelled to Holland together, and we’ve just clicked ever since. She is a wonderful human being and runs a truly wonderful business. Both of us are also board members of the @Instituteofflowers so naturally we spent lots of our time today discussing everything to do with @bordbiabloom and all the exciting things happening for floristry in Ireland at the moment. Bloom takes place over the June Bank Holiday Weekend in Dublin and both myself and Yvonne will be there, so please pop by the Institute of Flowers tent and say hello if you’re attending. 🌸 And if you’re ever passing through Mountbellew in County Galway, make sure to call into Miland's Garden Centre — it’s absolutely fabulous and so worth the visit. SWIPE LEFT When Ciara asked me over a year ago to prepare the flowers for her wedding day, I was absolutely thrilled. Ciara is a local girl from Ballyglass and has been a customer of mine since she was only young, so being asked to be part of such a special chapter in her life was a real honour. Her brother Alan would also be one of my son’s friends, so it really felt like a wedding close to home and very much part of our local community. Their beautiful celebration took place at @Breaffyhousehotel and every detail came together so beautifully. The ceremony was led by celebrant Mary Costello, with stunning makeup by Anne-Marie Hughes and gorgeous bridal hair by Hair by Ciara. The flowers were absolutely gorgeous — a beautiful mixed array of colour, full of movement and romance. We created a stunning floral meadow to adorn the aisle, bringing softness and colour right throughout the ceremony space, while the beautiful footed bowls overflowing with florals at the hotel created such an elegant atmosphere. The whole day was vibrant, joyful and full of life.
