📀Lenky Marsden - Pelpit/💿Steve Reich - Six Pianos
Really enjoying playing with turntables and FX pedals over the last year. The imprecision of it all requires a more sensuous approach. I like the way these pianos sound as they drift in and out of time against the dancehall beat, combined with the unpredictable swells of reverse echo.
A dance and sound workshop with Alex Vostokova @alexandeiira and Jack Colley (@baliboc ) focused on the practice of listening and contact improvisation with the floor, sound, space and each other. Learning to re-imagine our innate ability to connect, trust, fall and recover. All welcome. 2-6pm May 2nd

BALIBOC 🚊
Baliboc is a seasoned DJ and time sceptic who stumbles to the beat of his own drum. Over the last decade, he has been defined by his uniquely borderless approach to deejaying. He seeks out otherworldly beats and artifacts, layering and manipulating recorded sound to produce an expansive palette. Divergent rhythms shuffle and shift into one another, driven by full-bodied bass. His sets spiral, drifting across histories to generate moments of asynchrony. Under the banner of Unworld, he presents a monthly radio show on ddr, writes a blog, tinkers, and occasionally promotes gigs.

I’ve teamed up with Eamon Ivri (a.k.a. Lighght, Mineral Stunting, Drift Ritual, official account of the band Autechre) to assemble a lineup of performances from incredible artists we proudly call our friends. This will be the first Unworld live experience in over 9 months.
Fresh off their Open Ear debut, polyp will provide neo-grimey social ambience to kick off the evening’s proceedings. Live performances will come courtesy of Mineral Stunting and Covers Blown respectively. Deep listening sessions of soundscapes, textures, field recordings, some tones and possibly a glimmer of rhythm. Bossguy of wherethetimegoes, lastminuteman will transition the vibe from hush-lush to gronky-wonk dub club, deejaying an array of outernet oddities and exclusive dubplates from the WTTG familia. LMM barely ever deejays out, so this is going to be a real treat. Baliboc & Lighght will take on disintegration duties, closing off the night with a for-the-first-time-ever, flybytheseatofyourpants back 2 back DJ set.
Musical performances will be punctuated by fanvid DIY film club, curating a programme of experimental film shorts and video art to be screened on the night.
These powerful frequencies will be actualised by Rubadub HiFi, gracing our ears with their magical bins. Handbuilt sound straight outta Dublin. Truly, it does not get better than this.
This event will be starting relatively early at 7pm, going on until it feels necessary to stop. We’d love to see you there as long as possible, so we encourage you to bring some snacks and drinks to sustain you and your crew.

After 6 months off, I am genuinely pleased to be announcing the launch of my new project @unworld.unworld which debuts at @wigwamdublin on June 16th. €6 early birds are available at the link.
It's provisionally going to be a weird club night because that's what I know and am known for, but I see Unworld as a home for all of my creative output. Could be a label, a newsletter, zines, exhibitions, video essays, streams, walking tours, whatever. I have a few ideas. I want a space where I can explore all of my interests and dissolve the boundaries between them. I want to be able to explore with conviction, create without fear, collaborate with whoever. I'm hoping that Unworld will be the platform for this.
This project is a personal response to atomisation and an attempt to tap into an undercurrent of resistance against Big Lethargy. I don't have it figured out and the annoying dickhead perfectionist part of me is mortified about that but I know in my heart that I just gotta say fuck it and fly the flag. It doesn't have to make sense yet.
Hope that all you of you who have enjoyed my DJing or just chatting with me at some point will join me on this next chapter. We've got cool room with a fucking wicked soundsystem so that's a pretty good start.
