Balanda Atis @balandaatis is a pioneering cosmetic scientist and chemist 👩🏾‍🔬 When Atis realized that there were limited options for women of color in terms of foundation tones, she started a project with L’Oreal @lorealparis to study skin tones across the world. 💄🌍 Her work led to the discovery that ultramarine was the tone needed to create rich and deeper shades of brown without leaving a muddy finish. 💙 Her pioneering work led to the foundation that actress Lupita Nyong’o @lupitanyongo wore in ads for @lancomeofficial @elleusa magazine named Atis as one of the 10 Black Women Making History and her work in expanding shades of makeup led to brands such as @giorgioarmani , Lancome, @maybelline and @urbandecaycosmetics expanding their marketing of products to women of color. 🫶🏾 Atis joins us on the vault to inspire other women of color to take charge and create passion products that uplift and sinspire their communities. A lot of you have been asking for an update on my godson. He’s awake and fully response, but still needs your prayers as he’s still in the hospital. It’s also Sickle Cell Awareness month so let’s remember all those impacted by this horrible disease.

My apologies in advance for my semi long post. As most of you know my godson battles with Sickle Cell anemia. In the beginning of the month he entered NY Presbyterian Hospital to begin the process of a bone marrow transplant (that he got from his courageous younger brother) to cure this disease. The chemo prep was hard but he took it like a champ! Two weeks ago, during the infusion process he had a horrible reaction that caused a rapid response code. We thank God for His presence to allow him to come out of that experience with renewed faith. The doctors quickly pivoted to another method to get stem cells from Caleb that worked! This week was hard because Ben is experiencing the complications from some of the drugs. After struggling to breath due to blood clots, the decision was made to take him to the OR and place a breathing tube. I got to see him via FaceTime before he went in which made me happy but sad all at the same time to see him suffering. He’s in ICU again so we ask for your prayers. Easter 2024 was truly a blessing!! Got to see Jade speak at all three services at church and spent the afternoon with family.
