We decided to take a tour to the Lighthouse building during our valentine escapade to tarkwabay beach because it’s just a 20-30mins walk from the beach.
Our tour guide told us about the history behind the lighthouse which dates back to the colonial era and how it was built to guide ships safely into Lagos harbour. There were also stories about how slaves were used for manual labor in those times giving deeper context to the structure of the building.
All in all, climbing to the top of the building was exhilarating but the view was absolutely worth it. We could see the vast stretch of Lagos harbour , apapa port area, festac town and generally a full panoramic view of the coastline.
