A big thank you to our team at Bakers Bench for learning, growing and baking with me.
When I started Bakers Bench in 2022, I had a strong vegan component to our menu but I never intended for it to be fully vegan. Due to fluctuating egg and dairy prices through COVID and partially due to ease/laziness, I stopped stocking eggs and dairy altogether and I havenāt really looked back. Testing my fundamental pastry knowledge by creating new vegan recipes really tickles my brain in a satisfying way. Perhaps one day Iāll feel like Iāve exhausted all vegan techniques and turn once again to eggs (thereās so much you can do with EGGS!), but Iām not done experimenting atm. Also THE CARBON FOOTPRINT guys!
What a welcome article after getting out of the hospital!! Glad to be in the company of @radiobakerynyc and @lysee.nyc and many other amazing bakeries across America. I think small businesses are the hope and future of a progressing middle class. Thank you @tejalxrao and @nytimes
SPRING MENU
-last day for blueberry danish is tomorrow! Wednesday 5/13! Yall werenāt a huge fan of this-was it because it looks too dark???
Croissants: plain, chocolate, furikake, cinnamon knots, twice baked (we make them on Friday and when theyāre out for the week⦠Theyāre out!)
Danishes: Meyer lemon (yall like this one!), blood orange and black sesame, strawberry lemon verbena (starts Thursday!), miso asparagus, egg roll danish
Pastries: strawberry coconut scone, yuzu poppy seed scone, kale caramelized onion scone, strawberry almond muffin
Cookies: chocolate chip cookies, black sesame cookies and peanut butter cookies
Sandwiches: focaccia sandwich (kale, romesco, pickled red onions) and croissant sandwich (Chinese tomato sauce, cabbage)
Cinnamon rolls and pop tarts on weekends at 9am! Officially! I said it!

We get many comments on how nostalgic our loyalty cards are. We love that they bring you joy from your punch card coffee or boba college years, but for us itās really simple: we donāt want your data, we just want your loyalty.
You can get a stamp on your loyalty card for every plain croissant, chocolate croissant or a danish (sweet or savory) you purchase. You CANNOT get a stamp on cookies, muffins, cinnamon knots, sandwiches, twice baked croissants etc. Why? Because my accountant said so! Sorry!

ISO: your gently used bakeware! Specifically your old: muffin pans, loaf pans, Pyrex bakeware, measuring cups/spoons, silicone spatulas, etc!
We are teaching 10 previously incarcerated individuals how to make banana bread for our first class with @testimony_inc_ We want to send each person home with their own baking equipment so that they can make the recipe again (and again!) and are asking YOU to donate your gently used muffin tins, measuring cups, etc to gift them. This is a great time to clear out your oven and cupboards while helping others.
Please give us gently used items that are still in good condition. Respectfully, we donāt want your crap š

This Friday California Wildlife Center will have a FREE kids craft at Bakers Bench. Malibu based California Wildlife Center rehabs injured animals and advocates for better urban-wildlife relationships in California. Happy Earth Month!
