My struggle with acne ❤️🩹
Three years ago, I suddenly started having skin breakouts. Which was strange, since I had already passed puberty by then and never had any issues with my skin before.
When my nephew Phoenix (10) drew me a portrait, he included dots on my cheeks. And he was right! My face was flooded with painful pimples. I had already tried fixing it myself, changing my diet, drinking loads of water, prioritising sleep and adding supplements. But none of it seemed to work. 😕
I decided to ask for help. Started intensive treatment using light therapy, oxygen therapy, hyaluronic acid, blood tests and more supplements. Some months in, still no results. 👎🏼
As a last resort, I was prescribed accutane, a heavy medicine that I was set to take for 6 months straight. Up until that point, I had avoided this option due to possible, severe side effects. Instead, I had prioritised more natural methods. But I felt like I had no choice anymore. 🤷🏼♂️
It did end up causing the usual side effects (dry lips, increased sun sensitivity) but also some unexplainable spots appeared on several parts of my body. One of which even had to be removed, since it was constantly bleeding. 🩸
On a more positive note, I already started to notice improvements after one week of taking the medication. My skin became more even, the pimples less aggressive and painful. I continued taking 3 capsules a day until we marked the 6 month time frame this week. And guess what, my acne has vanished completely! 🫶🏼
Now the question is whether it stays away. Let’s hope this was it for me. I’m kind of done with acne to be honest! 🙃
Just wanted to add that this is my personal experience, nothing more than that. I’m not a medical specialist and don’t want to push any of you into a certain direction. If you suffer from severe acne, make sure to consult your doctor, he/she knows best what’s recommendable in your specific situation! 🩺
And last but not least, I found my girlfriend when my acne was heavy. She never made a point of it and always made me feel loved. I’m grateful for that, thank you

Your pimples don’t define who you are! 💫
