I truly wanted this to feel like a Ryder Cup event (more so than a birthday party for me - true story, it didn’t even occur to me to order a cake until about 5 days prior to The “Opening Ceremony”🤪), so I knew gifting and team uniforms were going to be a crucial part of the weekend. I’m so fortunate to know and work with so many talented people and wonderful brands in the golf industry, that I was able to put together a well-rounded (and rather impressive, if I do say so myself) collection of goodies for all the “players who qualified” for The 86 Invitational. 🤣

When I was hatching this whole concept (a Ryder Cup style girls golf extravaganza for my 40th), I wanted to name the event and the teams something that seemed sophisticated, elegant and had some lasting power. Thus, all plays on “Fore-ty” went out the window, as well as The BC Cup or The Chamblee Cup. I arrived on The 86 Invitational (the year I was born), in part because I’ve always loved the fact that Jack Nicklaus won the Masters in 1986, obviously one of the greatest Masters wins of all time. And Vintage vs. Vogue felt like it encapsulated me - I love vintage things (like wine! why? what did you think I meant 😜) and Vogue because well, ya know. 💃🏻
The cars-as-part-of-a-photoshoot idea came about because my friend (and teammate!) Jackie offered to bring her husband’s vintage car to the house for some photos, and then I recalled what the European Ryder Cup team did this past September with their gangster/mob photos in NYC and I thought it would be a fun addition to this event. I then asked Loretta (Team Vogue) if we could borrow one of her husband’s hot rod cars… and voila! Without further ado, may I present:
