What they asked for: “Don’t just live paint our wedding, paint us into our own Disney movie scene, and please include: - Sleeping Beauty’s Castle - The Haunted Mansion - Tower of Terror - Cinderella’s glass slipper - Cinderella’s carriage - the gazebo they were married under - Tangled lanterns - portraits of their dogs - a blue/purple color scheme - our wedding cake - and lots of Disney magic ✨” What do you think? Did I deliver? #disneywedding #fairytalewedding #2027bride #2026bride #livepainter

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had guests come up to me completely shocked that I’m painting the moment that’s happening right in front of them. One of the main questions I get asked is “how do you combine one background scene with a pose from another moment?” The answer? Mental photoshop! As long as the lighting is similar in the reference photos, I can often use up to four different pictures to create the perfect composition for a painting ✨ #livepainter #livepainting #weddingpainter #weddingartist #liveweddingpainter #liveweddingpainting #2026bride #uniquewedding

Currently experimenting with making oil paintings have a gouache-like quality. Gouache is opaque water color with a matte, veivety thish and simplified, shape-based look. Instead of heavily blending everything like traditional oils, gouache is usually applied in confident blocks of color with visible brushwork and soft layered texture. The technique tocuses on: * simplifying shapes * flat color masses * minimal blending * dry brush texture * layering opaque lights over darks * atmospheric color relationships That’s why gouache often feels: * nostalgic * cinematic * graphic * painterly * quiet and atmospheric I’ve been trying to bring that into oils by using flatter color masses, softer edges, dry brush texture, and limited palettes. Less realism, more mood and design. #westernart #westernartist

This wedding genuinely felt like a scene out of a fairytale. ✨ The inspiration was “Renaissance fairytale,” the venue was an actual castle, and the bride walked down the aisle to music from Tangled… so obviously the painting had to feel just as dreamy and romantic as the day itself. ✨ When the couple described what they wanted, they sent over references of old Renaissance paintings, soft dramatic fairytale energy, and an aged antique color palette. I loved the idea of making the final piece feel like something you’d stumble across in an old castle hallway, so after the piece was finished I glazed it with layers of sheer brown paint to mimic years of aging ✨🏰

Every year I take on a few “from photo” commissions. Unlike live wedding paintings, the challenge with these is to try and capture the feel of the venue and the event without having been there myself. Live paintings always have the advantage of being able to see the lighting, colors, and mood of a space as I’m making choices and mixing paint. With a photo, however, all you have is the exact scene in front of you. So you’re replicating, but trying to breathe life into a scene. After all, a painting is so much more than a photo. While they both have similar guidelines to composition and structure, with a painting the challenge is to create depth and movement so that the eye travels all throughout the painting - instead of staying in one spot and getting bored. I still have a couple of fall/winter from photo commissions available. Dm or email to learn more ✨📸🎨

From dark and moody to light and airy, to inspired by Disney’s Tangled, to fresh and alive with greenery - every wedding painting is different. I allow my couples to play an integral role when it comes to choosing a color palette, making lighting decisions, and helping construct the overall composition of the painting. While I am the artist, it is their painting and ultimately their decisions are the ones that will make it unique to them.

The one #Venice activity I wish everyone knew about! I felt like a kid in a candy store, it was so magical being able to try on gowns made by the Pirates of the Caribbean costume designer! #venicevacation #italia #italyvacation #italy
