First up ☝️🏻setting the tone, the standard, and the energy of this process, I introduce you @bailey_dewar 😊 As a coach, you don’t just look for talent… you look for commitment, growth, and the willingness to stay in it when it gets uncomfortable. Bailey has been like that from day one. 💅💕 now is her time to shine ✨ Every dancer had to organise and choreograph a solo on their own under my creative direction. They needed to coordinate their moves with the camera and work around spatial awareness while performing. Here’s her story, in her own words: Bailey Dewar (She/Her) Age: 25 I am from Aotearoa, New Zealand I joined Myss Tru’s program because I have always been inspired by the style Waacking and had been feeling a significant pull towards the style. After one open class with Tru back in August 2024 at the Hub I was hooked and eager to learn more about Waacking and Punking! After a post class chat with Tru I discovered that she was about to open her Waacking and Wellness pilot program so I signed up of course! Now I am proud to say I am one of the original members of Program 1 and still loving every moment of Tru’s Program. During this process I was privileged to step into the role as assistant choreographer. A learning curve was balancing the responsibilities of assistant choreographer and my own performance and execution of the choreography. I am working on being observant and attentive to the choreographic needs of the group while also focusing on the details and textures of my own performance within the group. A value that has guided me through this process and throughout the program this year is persistence. This has helped me become more solution orientated when challenges arise. During my mentoring sessions I have also been working on reframing my mindset and the impact self talk has on my thoughts and actions. I am a proud OG of Program 1 which started in October 2024! Here's a behind-the-scenes look at this unusual project! 🌟 Not everything is as simple as it seems. What I do is challenging, and this project was far from a leisurely task. It involved more than just choreography; it required full dedication as a group, team mentor, and coach. Unfortunately, it took a toll on me, but every lesson is valuable. I'm grateful to have learned this now rather than later. I jumped into creating this program without a manual, guidance, or framework, embracing the unpredictable nature of entrepreneurship. It hasn't been all roses; there have been storms to navigate, and I've learned a ton from each one. Now, it's time to move forward. No overthinking. Just presence, preparation, and showing up for the work. From solos to full choreography, every person held their role, their timing, and their energy. That’s what makes a vision come alive... not perfection, but focus and trust in the process. “We will make it work,” we say & we did. My methodologies go from mindset reframing, CBT (cognitive triangle), discipline, maturity, repetition, training, coaching and loads of experience and care. My programs are equipped to make the leap to become better and more functional humans, creatives and dancers, but the first step starts with them. This is the result of their engagement and investment in the piece. 7 months of coaching, dance technique training and development. For some of them, this was their first time experiencing this, now, they can have a better understanding of how the mechanical process of a video shoot works.
