This one is for the nerds. Alongside a small piece of advice for whoever is interested.
As a photographer, it’s natural to be a camera nerd. However, over the years, I’ve realized that even the most advanced camera specs won’t produce great photos if your approach is flawed and your planning is poor. A camera is a tool. When you understand its strengths and weaknesses and use it effectively, you’ll get great results. But if you don’t, you’ll end up chasing your tail. You’ll be stuck in a cycle of chasing better cameras to improve your work, and it’s never going to happen.
Focus on understanding your camera, your tool, and how to push it to its limits. When it’s no longer serving you, that’s the time to seek a better option that will meet your needs.
Pulled some of the photos sitting in my camera roll from my Japan trip last November. All photos shot and edited on iPhone 17 Pro
Settings: HEIF Photos in 48MP for Daylight and 12MP for Low-light shots, Exposure -1.7 to -2.
All edited in RNI Films.
