We are Bad Time To Scream. After a year and a half of planning and procrastinating, we are finally moving forward in this passion project of ours🫀 We are passionate about exploring contemporary and unconventional performances practices; as a group, we plan on commissioning most if not all of the pieces we perform. When is it a “bad time to scream?” Never. This is a playground, a place of exploration, a sonic laboratory where we bring unexpectedly cool experiences to those who dare to enter. Captions for pictures: 1. Our “headshot”? 2. Graduating from @bostonconservatory 3. Post-concert at Symphony Hall Boston 4~5. our fist time performing as a duo 🧫🧪 S T A Y T U N E D 🧬⚗️

excerpt of ‘five imagined dances’ by gaston gosselin gaston wrote this piece as an imagination of how inanimate objects would dance if they can. throughout the whole piece, we travel far and wide. playing this jig-like movement was a joy and we hope to share this joy with each and everyone of you that has supported us :) want to know more about gaston? check out @gaston.goss performed at miller recital hall at manhattan school of music on january 26, 2026. many thanks to the orto center for distance learning and recording arts for producing this recording.

excerpt of ‘skin zipper’ by amber dai amber wrote this piece with robert and themselves in mind. as duo partners they explore the same concepts this piece attempts to explore: dialogue, conflict, finding a place to be, finding similarities in differences and vice versa. want to know more about amber? check out @amber.dai.music performed at miller recital hall at manhattan school of music on january 26, 2026. many thanks to the orto center for distance learning and recording arts for producing this recording.

excerpt of ‘after closeness lines’ by brian ellis the piece is notated purely through text, and we get into the role of sound architects and build the sound world around creating something unique as well as embracing the differences between the two of us. the movement we’ve been performing is ‘siblings,’ and we’ve been finding new sounds and new ways to play together, much like how siblings are, maybe…(we are both the only child) want to know more about brian? check out @brianellissound performed at miller recital hall at manhattan school of music on january 26, 2026. many thanks to the orto center for distance learning and recording arts for producing this recording.

excerpt of ‘nuada-lugh’ by zeke morgan this is undoubtedly the most intense piece on our program by density of notes, length and demand for the individual players. the piece paints a picture of bond and battle, as the horn and the viola pushes and pulls, the audience experience this psychedelic tale through sound. want to know more about zeke? check out @z3kem0rgan_ performed at miller recital hall at manhattan school of music on january 26, 2026. many thanks to the orto center for distance learning and recording arts for producing this recording.

excerpt of ‘nocturne’ by andrew gretzinger inspired by space photographs, this movement opens soft, hushed, and distant, and the two of us grow together in dynamics and intensity. this is our third time performing this piece together, and we kept growing in understanding and skill, much like the gradual crescendo in this clip. want to know more about andrew? check out @andrewgretzinger performed at miller recital hall at manhattan school of music on january 26, 2026. many thanks to the orto center for distance learning and recording arts for producing this recording.

Five Imagined Dances (2025) by Gaston Gosselin ⋆⭒˚.⋆enjoy with headphones⋆⭒˚.⋆ our dear friend @gaston.goss wrote us this collection of five dances where he explores how beings that aren’t usually dancers would dance, such as goats, jellyfish, rocks and cacti. here you are hearing a snippet of the fourth movement, ‘cactus.’ full video on youtube, link in bio. performed at the beacon hill friends house on july 7, 2025. we would also like to extend gratitude to gaston for being a great friend and collaborator; without his invitation we wouldn’t have made our debut this summer. also, much appreciation to @beacon.ensemble for hosting their first ever (!) beacon new music festival. it was truly a joy to be there and witness the other wonderful artists this year.

After Closeness Lines (2025) by Brian Ellis ⋆⭒˚.⋆enjoy with headphones⋆⭒˚.⋆ before we had any repertoire written for us, @badtimetoscream explored improvisation as a means to just play together. @brianellissound wrote us this semi-improvisatory text score piece which encourages us to listen, respond, and explore with not just notes and but also noises. in each variation, we also almost create little riddles for the other person to solve: how can i reach a similar sound with the significant difference in physicality? we performed the third movement, titled ‘siblings.’ full video on youtube linked in bio. performed at the beacon hill friends house, on july 7, 2025. many thanks to @beacon.ensemble for inviting us.
