“Groovy little number from the debut LP. I love the way the drums trip along, punctuated by this kind of clumsy keyboard line. It’s also got a nice discombobulating intro that demands a full play.”
🎧 Factory Floor - Between You
“A friend of mine had this delivered to my address last year as they were away in Vietnam - couldn’t resist popping it on the turntable to check it out and goodness what a banger. It has the same uncomplicated raw energy as their live performances and packs a similarly big punch. Suffice to say I haven’t returned it yet.”

“This one’s a proper grower. I was lucky enough to see Greg Wilson play at the fabled Electric Chair in Manchester back in 2005 and it was a proper epiphany. Effortless edit-to-edit mixing, fearless genre hops, and total control of the floor as the sweat dripped off the basement ceiling. They had to peel me off that dancefloor when the lights went up. I wanted to stay there forever. Missed the last train back to York and slept in Piccadilly Station… wouldn’t have traded it for anything.”
🎧Moodymann (KDJ) - The Third Track
“There’s so many absolute weapons by KDJ to choose from, but this is one of my all-time faves. Kenny Dixon Jr strips things right back and lets the loop do the heavy lifting, until it beats you into funky submission. Nothing flashy, no unnecessary movement, just total trust in groove and timing. So simple but devastatingly effective from one of Detroit’s finest exports.”

“Freakin anthem. Should have a health warning on it. Those keys are lifted from Street Life by The Crusaders & Randy Crawford, right at the moment where the keyboardist is basically just noodling out at the end. A perfect example of house music doing what it does best: lifting a tiny fragment and turning it into a monster groove. This one never ever leaves the bag.”
