Save the date! On April 23rd, 2024, we will host NASA/JPL at Columbia University for a night of science and art. JPL’s Dr. Jonathan Jiang will present “Message in a Bottle,” a seminar on reimagining the Voyager Golden Record in digital era. Accompanying the seminar, Natalia Espinoza (@ya_tushabe ) and I will perform our interactive experience, “Beaming Through the Cosmos,” where we will transmit a collective message to the far reaches of the galaxy. This public event is for all ages. More details soon!

It’s been almost a year and a half since I moved here, and I’ve realized that making the leap to NYC requires a common trait: courage. Most people you meet here are courageous. From afar, I saw it in the architecture, but I kept looking— much like discovering more stars in the night sky— I find it everywhere. The best of this city, from its music and fashion to its art, food, and academia, is born out of courage. When it comes to opportunities, be the one brave enough to knock. With a lot of luck, authenticity, and the support of loving family, great friends, and generous colleagues, the right doors open. @tataspaintings @pgarakani @kabugo_mikka @drmomansouri @cordial.koala @lanceweiler @ya_tushabe @pbranchu @mihai.pohontu @minagerken @cliveanthonyofficial @elliemo91 @nicholasfortugno Rob King, Annette Insdorf, Breixo Viejo, Caroline Wamsler, Ron Gregg, Kevin Sherman, Nico Baumbach, Joshua Glick, Richard Peña, Alexander Rothe, Ben Leonberg, Shar Simpson, Ariella Lang, Hamid Dabashi, Margaret Vandenburg, and Jon Lomberg @whitneymuseum @columbiaschoolofthearts @nasajpl

Artist Barbara Kruger created this poster in 1989 for women's constitutional rights protests. Kruger said, “I think that it’s important for me to somehow, through a collection of words and images, to somehow try to picture—or objectify, or visualize—how it might feel sometimes to be alive today.” More than two-thirds of voters are for a woman's right to choose, yet Roe v. Wade is on the verge of being overturned again. Call your Senators and Representative to pass the Women's Health Protection Act.

“Welcome home.” If you guess that’s me in the photo, you’d be half-right.
