A tardy but much needed intro. 🌞 One thing about BYV is we’re always evolving because we’re creating from real, lived experiences. Every retreat, every curated stay, every offering comes from something we’ve felt, observed, or moved through. As we grow, we’ll keep shaping new kinds of experiences at a pace that feels true to us and to the people we create for.

Skip the typical itinerary. Discover the soulful side of Tanzania. You won’t find most of these gems in tour brochures. This self-guided itinerary was created for the curious, creative, and conscious explorer. After months of listening to what travelers in our community were really looking for, we built this just for you. We spent months scouting, sampling, and refining so that what you’re getting is fresh, accurate, and true to the spirit of exploration. This is the first of many guides to come, designed with local insight and the collective input of our community. To be used as a blueprint: detailed enough to travel with confidence, flexible enough to follow your intuition. Download your copy today. Link in bio.

Snaps from Naja’s Sabbatical in Tanzania ⛰️🐘☀️🤳🏾 Last month, we had the joy of curating our very first sabbatical journey. Naja, visiting us from New York, spent two weeks moving at her own pace. A flow between wellness, culture, nature, and adventure. Her days were less about checking off a list and more about opening up to an authentic experience. Time in Arusha connecting with local life, days of discovery in northern Tanzania’s landscapes, slow moments on the coast, safaris, caves, waterfalls. All woven together with enough openness for her intuition to guide the pace.

Hadithi ya Sungura na Simba (The Tale of the Hare and the Lion) 🐇🦁🌳💡🌊 Once upon a time, Simba the Lion declared himself the king of all animals. Every animal feared him, except Sungura the Hare, who thought, “Simba may be strong, but he is not wise.” One day, Simba demanded that every animal bring him food, or he would eat them instead. When it was Sungura’s turn, he arrived late and empty-handed. Simba roared, “Where is my food?” Sungura bowed and said, “Great King, I had caught a fat goat for you, but on the way another lion appeared! He claimed to be the true king and stole your meal. He told me to say you are not the only ruler here.” Furious, Simba demanded, “Show me this other lion!” Sungura led him to a deep well filled with water. Simba looked inside, saw his own reflection, and thought it was another lion staring back. With rage, Simba leapt into the well to fight his rival — and drowned. From that day on, the forest animals were free, thanks to the wit of little Sungura.

At @babuscampmkomazi , the mess tent serves as much more than a dining space. It’s where you find yourself lingering over breakfast because there’s a bird in the distance you’ve been watching through the binoculars. Where you share stories while the view changes with the sun, and vintage artifacts tell stories of safaris from decades ago. It’s where someone’s always happy to pour you a drink, and where the panoramic views make you forget about your devices entirely. If you’re looking for these kinds of moments, our Northern Tanzania Two-Week Guide is full of them. 📍Link in bio to get the guide.

Community in Tanzania, like anywhere, is imperfect and evolving. But its roots run deep, and being part of it — even for a short while — reminds you of something vital: that we are all connected in ways we often forget. And sometimes, that reminder is exactly what we need most.

We arrived at @the_slow_leopard Selous without any expectations and what we left with was a real shift in perspective. Experiencing the Slow Selous Safari offered a whole new way of understanding how the ecosystem works. When one thing shifts, everything downstream feels it. We had both beautiful views and a deeper look at what’s happening behind the scenes. A grounding experience that reminded us that nature is not only wild — it’s incredibly connected. ⛓️‍💥🌴

Some Tools For The Journey 📔 If we’re serious about showing up for ourselves, we have to give everything a place to exist. After you journal, ask yourself: 💠 For number 1 — How does it feel seeing that rage on paper? What’s really beneath it? 💠 For number 2 — Is this really true? Or am I just scared of my own power? 💠 For number 3 — What would it feel like to truly let this go? Feelings come and go like waves and can knock you off your feet, but they also lose their power when you put them somewhere.

We always say - if you’re looking to learn a lesson or two in patience and presence, come to Tanzania. ⁣ Living in Tanzania will make you question your relationship to time. Pole-pole (Swahili for slow-slow) is the mindset here. At first, it can feel like a shock to the system if you’re used to fast-paced schedules and constant urgency. But once you lean into it, it begins to feel like a gift.⁣ ⁣ If you’ve been to Tanzania before, what is your experience of the pole-pole lifestyle? 🌿✨
