Tonight, we had our first public performance of the Back To The Future national tour, with one of my idols, film score legend Alan Silvestri, in attendance. Back in 1985, I played the movie soundtrack so much, the cassette tape completely warped. Consider this fanboy SLAIN!
Great Scott! Had my conducting debut tonight and what a BLAST this show is! Looking forward to taking this on tour across the country. Thanks to the Broadway company and especially the @the_outatime_orchestra for being so welcoming and supportive. And of course, infinite gratitude to the legendary @tedrarthur for this opportunity. Could not have done it without you!!
Back in the fall of 2017, @bftpny and @tomkittmusic unearthed me from the ashes of a comet. Tonight, after 6+ wild years, this life chapter has come to a close: 4 companies across 2 continents, plus a pandemic. The mile-long “thank you” list would include tagging half of the world at this point, so I’ll just leave it at: “it’s been… educational.”
12 weeks fly by when you’re having fun, and sadly it’s down to one day left on this adventure. Thanks to @marymitchellc@chris_kong@benedictbraxtonsmith@daveleblancdrums@nickbrenock@grimtank , and the absurdly talented cast, top-notch crew, and exceptional management of the “Mean Girls” first national tour. Finally, a special shout-out to Swing Nation, the members of which keep the show afloat every single day.
There are many wonderful things to say about the “Mean Girls” national tour, but one of the best is that they know how to make guests feel welcome. Conducting debut tonight!
