“No Parties for Bad Children (No Parties) is a dance-theater piece for 9 performers choreographed by Hayden Hubner of Dogs Eat Wind. No Parties questions and critiques the American style of coming-of-age, a process which seems to replace wistful freedoms and chaotic wonderment with productive focus, discipline, structure and persona. It is an ode to the wisdom of children, an attempt to return to the Freak, and a response to the upcoming “250th birthday of America” this July 4th, 2026. We will be sharing excerpts of No Parties for Bad Children at Backstage on May 9th, and the full-length premiere will take place on July 3rd and 4th at the Darkhorse Theater.”
Come freely as you are to witness this creation.🇺🇸

“This performance is an extension of the shared contact improvisation practice we have cultivated over the last few years. Our desire is to explore the threshold between practice and performance - to unearth what uniquely shows up in our dancing when we are bound by time, framed by a stage, and surrounded by witnesses.”
Be held by time, as these two hold our attention. ⏳

“What if all aspects of self, personality, and behavior could be put in front of you like dials on a sound board? Which qualities would you choose to amplify, silence, or mix in order to be perceived as impressive? Buy Me, By Me is an exploration of the fatiguing endeavor of selling others on yourself. Will they buy it? Will you?”
Be sure to dial into this preference! ☸️

“Caroline Wehby is a movement artist and aerialist who believes dance can be an invitation of collective presence. Exploring power dynamics with elements of tension, stillness, suspension, and release, her upcoming piece offers a space to sit with ones’s own experiences, messages, and stories that may feel similarly. Outside of performing, Caroline also offers both aerial and grounded embodiment workshops every 1-2 months and teaches aerial silks at Miss Fit Academy.”
Caroline has us hanging by a thread to see her preference! 🧵

“For years Ann has offered her voice and her instruments in service of others - as a sound healer, facilitator, mother, and caregiver. Here, those same tools turn toward herself. Not to hold space for someone else’s becoming, but to enact her own - in front of you, in real time, without apology.
Over time, the piece unfolds as a slow shedding - clothing, armor, smallness - as crystal bowls, gongs, field recordings, and movement build from a whisper into something that fills space and expands. Like the serpent that cannot grow without first releasing what no longer fits, this performance moves through darkness and dissolution as something ancient stirs - not discovered, but remembered. It ends where it always had to: with nothing but her own voice, open and unadorned, toning into a deeper invitation.”
Come join us for The Shed on May 9th. Let the sound that Ann Sensing preforms wash over you. Let SHED what doesn’t serve you and receive the new that awaits you. 🔔🥣

“This work is inspired by the quiet power and mystery of the moon, embracing its deep connection to femininity and the cyclical nature of change. It reflects a journey through phases. Being concealed in darkness and introspection, unfolding into illumination as though bathed in moonlight. At its core, the piece honors the strength found in harnessing our emotional natures revealing that sensitivity is not weakness but a powerful, guiding force that shapes growth, resilience, and self-discovery.”
