The Trailer is out! The Namibia edition of Discovering New Tech Destinations Across Africa is officially on the way and trust me, this one hits differently 🇳🇦🔥
From Windhoek to Swakopmund, this journey takes you deep into Namibia’s fast-rising tech and innovation scene; from fintech, to agritech, where mining meets gaming, exploring Namibia’s startup culture, community hubs, and the people quietly building solutions from the ground up.
This isn’t just another tech documentary.
It’s about ambition in unlikely places, ideas born in calm environments, and a country proving that innovation doesn’t have to be loud to be powerful.
The trailer is just a glimpse.
The full story? Even bigger.
Namibia is building.
Africa is rising.
And you’ll want a front-row seat for this one.
Stay ready. It’s already here!
This documentary was produced in partnership with Cleva (YC W24), a fintech company building seamless cross-border financial solutions that help Africans move, spend, and access money globally without friction.
It was also supported by Basecamp Business Incubator Namibia, a business incubator and innovation hub empowering startups with mentorship, resources, and the ecosystem support needed to grow and scale sustainable businesses.

Another edition of Tech Connect is happening in Lagos tomorrow.
Tech Connect was created with a simple intention, bringing together good people across Africa’s tech ecosystem for meaningful conversations, genuine connections, and shared ambition.
This edition is particularly special because alongside the Lagos edition, we’ll also be officially premiering our Namibia tech ecosystem documentary, a project that explores Namibia’s growing tech ecosystem through the stories of founders, operators, innovation hubs, and ecosystem builders shaping the future of the country.
Big appreciation to the amazing partners: Antler Nigeria, @heylua.ai and @clevabanking for supporting us.
We look forward to an evening of conversations, networking, collaboration, and community with founders, operators, investors, creatives, and ecosystem friends.
There are few open spots left for those who would love to join us tomorrow evening in Lagos.

Throwback to last month at @latitude59ee in Kenya, where we screened an excerpt from our Namibia Tech Ecosystem documentary part of the Discovering New Tech Destinations Across Africa documentary series and followed it up with a fireside conversation.
The screening sparked real conversations around emerging ecosystems, collaboration, and the stories that often go untold across the continent.
This documentary was created in partnership with @clevabanking , a global banking platform enabling seamless cross-border financial services for Africans and African businesses, and supported by @basecamphub Namibia, a community-driven innovation hub backing founders and builders on the ground.

At @latitude59ee Kenya, we premiered a preview of our Namibia Tech Ecosystem Documentary, a part of the #DiscoveringNewTechDestinationsAcrossAfrica series, taking Africa’s innovation story from the field to a global audience of founders, operators, and ecosystem leaders.
This is what the Backend Series is about, documenting ecosystems as they are, then placing those stories where conversations about the future are already happening.
When it comes to storytelling, we are committed!

Backend Series is in Nairobi!
Our Chief Storyteller, @_geraldblack , will be hosting a 10-minute preview screening of the Namibia Tech Ecosystem Documentary at @latitude59ee Kenya, adding our perspective to a gathering built for founders and innovators rewriting Africa’s tech narrative. We ofcourse be spotlighting stories that rarely make the stage, the real work, the quiet trials, and the breakthroughs pushing this continent's tech ecosystem forward.
If you are in Nairobi, let’s connect at the Latitude59 event and explore what’s next.

We’re excited to have been a media partner for the Africa to Paris Trade Mission 2025, a gathering that brought together African founders, investors, and business leaders to explore new pathways for collaboration, trade, and expansion through Paris 🇫🇷.
Through Backend Series, we documented the energy, ambition, and intent driving Africa’s global push. Every conversation, pitch, and partnership reflected one simple truth that Africa isn’t seeking validation, it’s building its own bridges into global markets.
Paris was a powerful reminder that when vision meets ecosystem support, the world doesn’t just notice, it listens.

Back in Windhoek for our final stop, CcHub Namibia, where innovation meets community. 💡🇳🇦
We caught up with Efraim Vilho (@alphah04_09_04 ), Community Manager at @cchub_namibia , and explored how the hub is creating a space for founders, creators, and innovators to build, test, and grow solutions that move the Namibian ecosystem forward.
CcHub Namibia is not just providing infrastructure, it is nurturing a mindset of collaboration and experimentation that defines Africa’s next generation of builders.
Our journey across Namibia ends here, but the energy, ideas, and ambition we have seen will keep echoing long after.
How do we continue to connect and strengthen ecosystems like this across the continent?

Our next stop in Swakopmund took us into one of the most unexpected intersections we’ve seen so far, where mining meets gaming 🎮⛏️
We sat down with Paul Ehlers (@cap.oneil ), CEO of DMS Mining Studios (@dmsminingstudios , a company reimagining how mining education is delivered through immersive, gamified simulations. What began as a late-night experiment has evolved into a powerful tool for training, learning, and industry collaboration, turning complex mining operations into interactive experiences that make learning both visual and practical.
It’s a bold example of how innovation doesn’t always mean starting from scratch, sometimes it’s about rethinking what already exists and teaching it in a way that connects with the next generation.
Could gamified learning be the key to transforming how Africa builds technical talent across industries?
