It means a lot to me that the music I’ve been working on so intensively for more than a year for Trumpet World Workbook 2 is now approaching the finish line. ❤️
Here’s a little sneak peek of my composition Calming Down, performed by Reinhold Friedrich and myself.
Thank you, dear Reinhold, for bringing this music to life.
Why did I write this music?
To create music that turns practice into something meaningful, inspiring, and deeply musical.
📘 Trumpet World Workbook 2, published by Schott Music, is already available for pre-order.

Jerry Hey's Bach story started with teachers like Charles Geyer of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and William Adam, the legendary trumpet professor at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music.
"It definitely is part of my sound."
Timothy Higgins, Principal Trombone of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and pianist Yoko Yamada presented a recital in the Conn Selmer Chicago Studio on May 3, performing works by Salzedo, Scriabin, Mahler, and Gotkovsky. This marks Timothy Higgins' first recital as Principal Trombone of the CSO.

Bach Trumpet Artist Janelle Finton still remembers the high school orchestra director who helped her face college auditions with confidence and reminded her of all she had to give.
Now, Janelle carries that same care into her own teaching.
𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸, we celebrate the music educators who help their students hear what’s possible in themselves.
These legends of legends have influenced Anthony Stanco’s love for jazz and trumpet. Are any of these albums on your list of favorites?
𝟏. 𝐇𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞 – 𝐀𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐨 𝐒𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐥
“This was the first CD I ever owned at twelve years old, given to me by my elementary band teacher, Rob Park! Hearing Arturo live at Orchestra Hall in Detroit, not long after, really changed everything for me.”
𝟐. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐔𝐥𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐂𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐝 𝐁𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐧 – 𝐂𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐝 𝐁𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐧
“I picked this up on my first trip to a record store, and between Clifford’s sound and Nicholas Payton curating the tracks, it really opened my ears to the lineage of the instrument.”
𝟑. 𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐧 𝐒𝐞𝐬𝐚𝐦𝐞 – 𝐅𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐝𝐢𝐞 𝐇𝐮𝐛𝐛𝐚𝐫𝐝
“From the first listen, the energy and sound on this record hit me hard, and it’s still the trumpet concept I’m chasing, especially on “Gypsy Blue,” which I definitely borrowed from for one of my own tunes.”
𝟒. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 – 𝐋𝐞𝐞 𝐌𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧
“Lee is THE baddest, and I was all in on that boogaloo feel right away! I recently recorded a tune called “In the Groove” in the same vein.”
𝟓. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐫𝐭 𝟏𝟗𝟔𝟒: 𝐌𝐲 𝐅𝐮𝐧𝐧𝐲 𝐕𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐞 + 𝐅𝐨𝐮𝐫 & 𝐌𝐨𝐫𝐞 – 𝐌𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐃𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐬
“This record just blew the doors open for me in terms of intensity and interaction, and really showed me what’s possible in this music at the highest level.”
We’re excited to welcome Janelle Finton to the #BachFamily!

Jerry Hey has trusted the Bach sound for most of his career. He’s performed and arranged on over 1,700 records, shaping the sound of pop music from the Hollywood studio scene for over three decades. As a first-call arranger for Quincy Jones, Jerry’s credits also include arrangements for Michael Jackson, Lionel Ritchie, Frank Sinatra, Donna Summer, George Benson, Earth Wind and Fire and dozens more.
It was incredible to have him in the Conn Selmer Chicago Studio with Bach artists Louis Dowdeswell, Tom Walsh, and Mike Davis, showcasing how brand new Bach 190S37 trumpets can still deliver the same unmistakable sound that Jerry’s legendary arrangements are known for.
Will Leathers relies on his Bach C190SL229X when he needs an elegant, rich sound and ease of flexibility to perform "The Ballerina's Dance" from Igor Stravinsky's 𝙋𝙚𝙩𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙘𝙝𝙠𝙖 (1947).
