Babelfont is a type design studio born between Paris and Casablanca in 2015. Founded by Gia Tran (Vietnam) and Brahim Boucheikha (Morocco), and joined in 2024 by Jean-Baptiste Pernette, the studio crafts multiscript typefaces that bridge European, Asian, and Arabic cultures.
Babelfont highlights the rich calligraphic heritage of the world, designing in Arabic, Tifinagh, Cyrillic, Greek, Vietnamese, Thai, Korean and all Latin-based languages.
We believe every typeface is a space for dialogue. Our creations embrace diversity, connecting scripts, cultures, and identities through a humanistic, contemporary approach to typography.

• Professional Training for Design Agencies
At Babelfont, we believe typography is one of the invisible yet essential foundations of a strong brand. We offer specialized training programs for design and communication agencies to elevate the typographic quality of their work. Our sessions cover all the essentials: cultural refreshers, mastery of letterform fundamentals, professional tips, and awareness of legal issues related to type licensing. Through hands-on workshops, we help creative teams rediscover the anatomy of letters through calligraphy, customize existing typefaces for logo creation and unlock their typographic potential through concrete and inspiring exercises.

For over 15 years, Babelfont has been deeply committed to sharing typographic knowledge with the next generation of designers. We regularly teach and lead workshops in design schools across France and Morocco, including the École Supérieure des Arts Visuels de Marrakech (ESAVM), Strate College (Paris), Sup de Pub (Paris, Lyon), Intuit Lab (Paris), EFET Studio Créa (Paris), Ynov Campus (Paris, Toulouse), Brassart (Toulouse), and CY Cergy Paris Université. For the major exhibition dedicated to the Mamluk Sultanate, presented at the Louvre Museum and Louvre Abu Dhabi, Babelfont collaborated with Atelier Bastien Morin and the exhibition curators to design the Arabic title of the exhibition.
The title, “Mamluks, Legacy and Influence,” was drawn in the spirit of the Thuluth style from the Mamluk period. Our work was inspired by the monumental calligraphic compositions found on metal objects, architecture, and decorative elements from this dynasty, particularly the art of damascening developed during that era.

For Patrón Tequila’s global rebrand, @servaireandco and @bureau.lieb asked us to develop and finalize a capital typeface inspired by Mexico’s graphic heritage.
Starting from an initial alphabet and a set of alternates, we refined and stabilized the design, working on proportions, contrast and consistency across the letterforms. From this base, we extended the typeface into a complete system, ensuring coherence, rhythm and usability throughout.
From design adjustments to full font engineering, the project focused on turning expressive drawings into a precise and functional typographic tool.
