7 years ago today I left Seattle and moved to Portland.
It was a drastic decision that marked what would become one of the best choices I've ever made. I didn't know it then, but it would be the beginning of putting myself first, over and over again. Letting go of shitty people, fake friendships, bad situations and reinforcing boundaries every time they were pushed.
I am happier now than I was then, and that is a hard won and hard fought battle.
So fuck you, enjoy this flower thriving in concrete I observed on my way to work.

Dinner at our house is usually pretty simple, we eat a lot of rice, light proteins and vegetables.
Tonight was wild rice with dandelion greens, sweet potato with feta, grilled chicken and herbs.
I've been digging this chimichurri/chermoula herb paste/condiment on EVERYTHING. Chicken, vegetables, tofu - totally mouth watering.
I start with chopping equal size bunches of parsley, cilantro, dill and green onions. Then I dice half of a bell pepper, half of a red onion, a couple tablespoons of chili crisp, a splash of olive or avocado oil, some lemon or lime juice, cumin, salt & pepper - I make a LOT of it and put it on absolutely everything.
Feeling gratitude this evening for the life we are building. I've had a pretty frustrating few weeks, I'm pretty bummed out about the world and disgusted with people. I'm missing my international friends right now. I'm just glad to have peace, quiet and space to wind down here in Babehalla. (that's what I've called every place I've lived)
Danny makes things easier on my mind and I'm happy we found eachother. We've lived together for a year now and I can only really complain that we like eachother's company too much and should get out more 🤣 I dunno though, our patio is pretty cozy.
