It is highly recommended to fast the first nine days, particularly the Day of Arafah,
Sacrifice (Udhiyah): Offering a sacrifice on the 10th-12th of Dhul Hijjah
Increase in prayer, charity, reading the Quran, and honoring parents.

It was a marvelous experience
The design of human body which is made up of estimated 35 TRILLION CELLS (average; depending on age, gender, body size, etc) is very very complicated. The cells are grouped together as organs to perform specific duties, each cell doing its own duty, as assigned by Allah, its Creator.
This keeps us functioning and alive. In order to accomplish this duty, there are billions of biochemical reactions taking place simultaneously, the product of one reaction serving as the starting material of another.
These order is far too complex to imagine with our level of intellect. When a single cell deviates from the order of its Maker, it starts to malfunction and various abnormalities may result (examples are diabetes, insomnia, abnormal blood pressure, tumour, cancer, etc). Allah in His Mercy has made it that not all misbehavior by cells result in untoward event, some just result in apoptosis (cells committing suicide).
What brings about refusal of cell to do its duty? Science has various theories, but ONLY ALLAH has the answer (Q 11 v 4). Fear Allah who orders the affair of His creations (Q 27 v 93) and obey His commands ALWAYS (Q 33 v 3) so as to qualify for His Mercy (Q 26 v 9). Jumaat Mubarakah.
